Little Things

  • warming | the heat that comes out of the vent right on my toes while I’m doing dishes in the kitchen
  • waking | Simon was up at 5am on Wednesday to play with his legos
  • eating | this broccoli cheddar soup
  • seeing | some great flat-style orange pumpkins that I want to pick up today
  • snuggling | Anna with her little pink unicorn stuffed toy
  • playing | the wii being a force of good in motivating Simon to get his homework and reading done
  • knowing | Anna knowing all about the pirates and can tell you which is which: Davy Jones, Blackbeard, Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Barbosa
  • praying | for some challenges Simon is facing at school
  • planning | a surprise spring break adventure for 2012
  • asking | Anna asking for a second bowl of cereal and milk because, as she says, “I like white milk.”
  • serving | waking up on Friday morning and having Simon ask me if I want cereal and milk for breakfast and then him coming downstairs to get it ready for me (he had no school – on school days each morning I ask him if he’d like a bagel & cream cheese or a toaster waffle for breakfast and then have it ready for him when he comes downstairs)
  • anticipating | the arrival of my nieces and nephews and siblings for the Halloween holiday weekend

Also just a quick note to let you know that the Studio Calico’s December Daily kits are now available to non-subscribers of their kit club. If you’re hoping to use more of your own stash this year you might consider purchasing just the package of 6 x 8.5 page protectors to hold your pages and create your own cover like I’ve done in the past using chipboard, fabric, etc. I’ll be sharing my foundation pages on Monday.

You have such a gift Ali for documenting the “little things” in life that we all experience, but (certainly in my case!) would never think to jot down. Thanks for sharing yours, and for being so inspirational to the rest of us! Have a wonderful weekend with your family. Hugs!

What a sweet guy that Simon!
I will say a little prayer that he overcomes his school challenges! Every little bit helps!

I picked up my December Daily yesterday and I’m super excited to get started! Hoping to overcome my fear of that chipboard album! I’m so scared of ruining it!

Looking so forward to creating my DD! I purchased some Ormolu, Marcy Penner (@Hello Forever) vintage badges, your Christmas stamps at TT, and Kerri Bradford png files for Silhouette and Elle Studio Digital downloads. Received an GC from a dear friend for my birthday this month so I was able to buy more on my wish list than usual! :)
Your weekend looks to be lovely. Enjoy the time with your adorable family! Can’t wait to see what’s to come with your DD 2011.

I ordered the December Kit yesterday and I can’t wait for it to arrive so I can get started! This is the first year when I’ll actually begin early! Maybe this way I can actually complete it on time! This year we’ve had such a hard year with the loss of my father in law and other sad stuff going on so I want to focus on the goodness of Christimas MORE than ever before. Thanks for the constant inspiration, Ali. :)

I love your “litte things” post today. Have a wonderful weekend!

    Hi Ali,

I have been in a emotional state we had to put our Schnauzer
Molly down she was 13 had diabetes and cancer and she was my Mom’s (Anna was Moms name also) dog and I feel another part is gone. Reading the little things gave me peace and joy because Molly brought so much love and joy to our life. Thanks so much for that. I will also remember Simon in my prayers. but then I have the whole Edwards family on our prayer list. Hugs and blessings

Great post. Just a note I had a challenging time finding the December Daily kit on Studio Calico. You have to go to the kit add ons and it is listed as one of the add ons. Just in case anyone else has trouble finding it. I picked mine up this morning. Can’t wait for it to arrive in the mail.

Wish you and your family well, have a great weekend and lots of Halloween fun!

I love these “real life” posts. Hope all went well with Simon’s conference. I have 3 kids and they all had their unique school challenges. One was great at math but one of my kids at one point was failing math but is a great writer and my youngest struggles with writing but reads at a high level. Their strenghts and weaknesses are so very different from one another. Yet there is always something to celebrate.

I love how you worded your little things post. It gives me some ideas for my project life journaling that I am so behind on. Thank you for sharing and prayers coming your way for Simon and the entire Edwards clan.

I love the heat that comes out of my vent under my vanity in my bathroom. Winter mornings, you’d think I had heated tile floors. Love it : )

We’re excited too! Gabrielle and Lucy woke up this morning after their slumber party in Lu’s room and said, “are we going to Anna and Simon’s house today?” Not yet little ladies, but soon. We’ll be headed straight your way after Henry’s soccer game. Sorry for the delay, but it’s been soccer or bust around here lately. Love you Ali, can’t wait to soak you up for a couple of days!
