December Daily 2011 | The Foundation Pages, Part Two

Today I'm sharing my second set of December Daily pages for 2011.

You can view my first set here (I highly recommend reading that post before you start on this one).

I added a link widget to the bottom of this post for you to share a link to your foundation pages. I can't wait to start seeing them come together!

You can view all my images so far (shown in the image above) on Flickr.

And just a reminder, to me this album really comes alive in December when the words and the photos are added (and a few more decorations and bits of life). I can't wait for the opportunity to savor the days of December and document those stories again.

DAY TWO

December Daily 2011 | Foundation Pages

The awesome letterpress number coasters arrived. I've been looking forward to playing with these numbers in my album. These are included with the Studio Calico kit. After finishing my foundation pages I've got three numbers left over that I'll work into my pages during December.

I used my sewing machine to stitch the coaster right on top of the Hambly transparency + ribbon combination.

December Daily 2011 | Foundation Pages

On the page opposite the Day Two page (I look at them as a spread) I added one of the cool calendar pages that's also included with the kit. These are thick chipboard pages with a place for notes along the bottom. For this one I trimmed off the notes section and used Hero Arts alpha stamps and Jenni Bowlin Cough Syrup ink to add the numbers.

December Daily 2011 | Foundation Pages

I'm thinking I might just keep that "loose" within the page protector and be able to pull it out and add to it throughout the month. I used a sentiment from my Studio AE November 2011 stamp set along the top (this is the same one I used on the outside of my album cover).

DAY FIVE

December Daily 2011 | Foundation Pages

Five little glittered stars in one pocket (those were from Prima) + a number five coaster.

December Daily 2011 | Foundation Pages

To trim the 5 I just laid it on my paper trimmer and cut back and forth a few times.

For this one I punched a circle from one of the chipboard calendars, added a chipboard accent (#12) from the Echo Park chipboard set, stamped using the Hero Arts alpha stamps, and stitched in place.

I did have to punch it twice to get it to go all the way through.

A COUPLE NOTES

  • Hambly has added a page to their site with a selection of transparencies that are great for December Daily.

  • PRINTING | I received this message from Stephanie Beeson Bryan via Facebook: Hey Ali! I just wanted to let you know that I contacted Persnickity Prints today about printing your 6x8.5 layered templates for this years DD. They said the print could be uploaded to an 8x10 canvas so it wouldn't try to make you crop the image and that they would even trim to size too. Wow! Thought maybe some of your other followers who are using a print service might find this helpful!! I know I will definitely be using them!!!

  • 12x12 layered templates and 8.5x11 overlays should be available next week at Designer Digitals (not this weekend). I'm hoping to wrap them up this weekend.

One more thing, December is a very busy time of the year and people like the fact that a kit has everything and we don't have to individually source the projects. It's a big commitment and the easier it is for people to get in and start a project (and more importantly finish one) is a bonus.

I am using Blogger. When I paste the code, the picture will not show up on my blog, it's just a square with a red "x" in it.

      Thanks!

I have a question. How did you get the pins out of those star trinkets? I have some of those pins and it doesn't seem like the pin will come off very easily. Did you just cut them off?

I twisted them all the way to one side and then back to the other side and they eventually broke off.

The kit is sold out! Are they producing anymore? I held off buying one last night to think about it, and now when I've decided they've sold out :(

I love the albumn you get in the kit.

    HI Ali,

I finally got a real good look at everything and of course love love this. All the glitter, stars, variety of #'s going thru is really neat. My favorite is #15 and the candycane type letters. It really is magical already and once you fill it up it will SHINE even more. The ribbons you've added are so pretty, love the #24 one.

    Couple questions?
did this kit come with paper or am I missing something? Would love to know what colors/PP they are going to be? Do you like these size/style of protectors unlike the small baseball kinds your use to using?

Thanks for everything and inspiring us!!

The kit did come with paper - I'll be using it during the month. I think there were six sheets. You can see the kit image here: http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/add_ons/486

Starting my pages today. One question...is there an easier way to change the color of the outlines on the December Daily 2011 Overlays? I like the red but I'm debating between red or Burgundy.

Hi Barbara - any easier way than what? How are you attempting to do it now? I'm pretty sure the way to do it now is one by one (using the PNG files) because I'm not aware of a way to re-color all the pages in a PDF at one time.

Hi Ali - I really love all of your work and the DD - oh WOW!!I am working on getting my "stuff" together, ordered the kit so will be ready to go. Quick question -how did you get the pins out of the Maya Road star pins? Thanks - you are a "Goddess"!

Hi Sharon - I pushed the pin all the way to one side (up towards the star) and then all the way back to the other side. I did that a few times and it snapped off.

gonna do DD again this year. I still have my album and pics sitting and waiting for me from 2010, but I'm not a quitter. =)
I always love seeing your album and pages. I sure wish I had the extra money for the SC kit. It's fab and appears to be sold out now... I'm gonna use my own stash again and see what happens.
    Thanks for the inspiration. =)

I'm very sad, I wanted a Christmas album ... Here in Brazil it is very difficult. I do not know how to write or speak English very well. I depend on my son's or others, in order to understand the right values and everything else .. I tenhgo a problem also is that the value can not exceed $ 50, I can pay more, but can not see this value in the bill because I have to pay more taxes yet. I lost everything, the term option the album and everything. I'm very, very sad.

    Happy DD Ali!

I'm very excited about starting my second annual December Daily. My first was last year and I'm happy to report I finished it... well I'm almost done... All that's left is to bind it together with my metal rings.

One question - how far in from the edge do you recommend that I punch the holes for my rings? I'm paralyzed at the moment - too afraid to have travelled this far and mess it up with the binding rings!

    Help!

You created such a lovely album. I look forward to seeing your album as you work on it. I used your general ideas in mine but changed it up a bit to suit what I had on hand and what I am capable of. I had an Avery 5.5 x 8.5 binder along with the same size page protectors so I used that. I am using supplies I had on hand along with a few things I decided to purchase for this year. Its looking good so far and I am very much liking the page protector idea this year. Now I just need December to get here so I can start taking photos and adding photos and what not.
