December Daily 2011 | The Foundation Pages, Part Two
Today I'm sharing my second set of December Daily pages for 2011.
You can view my first set here (I highly recommend reading that post before you start on this one).
I added a link widget to the bottom of this post for you to share a link to your foundation pages. I can't wait to start seeing them come together!
You can view all my images so far (shown in the image above) on Flickr.
And just a reminder, to me this album really comes alive in December when the words and the photos are added (and a few more decorations and bits of life). I can't wait for the opportunity to savor the days of December and document those stories again.
DAY TWO
The awesome letterpress number coasters arrived. I've been looking forward to playing with these numbers in my album. These are included with the Studio Calico kit. After finishing my foundation pages I've got three numbers left over that I'll work into my pages during December.
I used my sewing machine to stitch the coaster right on top of the Hambly transparency + ribbon combination.
On the page opposite the Day Two page (I look at them as a spread) I added one of the cool calendar pages that's also included with the kit. These are thick chipboard pages with a place for notes along the bottom. For this one I trimmed off the notes section and used Hero Arts alpha stamps and Jenni Bowlin Cough Syrup ink to add the numbers.
I'm thinking I might just keep that "loose" within the page protector and be able to pull it out and add to it throughout the month. I used a sentiment from my Studio AE November 2011 stamp set along the top (this is the same one I used on the outside of my album cover).
DAY FIVE
Five little glittered stars in one pocket (those were from Prima) + a number five coaster.
To trim the 5 I just laid it on my paper trimmer and cut back and forth a few times.
DAY SIX
American Crafts letter stickers (included in kit) stitched to keep them in place.
DAY NINE
Coaster stitched in place.
DAY TEN
Coasters. Cut each one to fit inside the page protector.
DAY ELEVEN
American Crafts letter stickers (included in kit) stitched to keep them in place.
DAY TWELVE
For this one I punched a circle from one of the chipboard calendars, added a chipboard accent (#12) from the Echo Park chipboard set, stamped using the Hero Arts alpha stamps, and stitched in place.
I did have to punch it twice to get it to go all the way through.
DAY FIFTEEN
Buttons, stars, a manila tag, American Crafts letter stickers, Evalicious vintage Christmas buttons. I did a bit of stitching on the manila tag around the 15.
DAY SEVENTEEN
American Crafts letter stickers + a coaster.
DAY TWENTY
Number button from Ormlou + a few glitter stars. Looking forward to adding more to these pockets when the day comes around.
DAY TWENTY-TWO
American Crafts Hardcover Silver letter stickers.
DAY TWENTY-FOUR
American Crafts letter stickers + a coaster.
A COUPLE NOTES
- Hambly has added a page to their site with a selection of transparencies that are great for December Daily.

PRINTING | I received this message from Stephanie Beeson Bryan via Facebook: Hey Ali! I just wanted to let you know that I contacted Persnickity Prints today about printing your 6x8.5 layered templates for this years DD. They said the print could be uploaded to an 8x10 canvas so it wouldn't try to make you crop the image and that they would even trim to size too. Wow! Thought maybe some of your other followers who are using a print service might find this helpful!! I know I will definitely be using them!!! - 12x12 layered templates and 8.5x11 overlays should be available next week at Designer Digitals (not this weekend). I'm hoping to wrap them up this weekend.

Oh Ali....I am a 'johnny come lately' to this concept but love it...and with 9 people in my house could be too much fun to handle...I might see if I can grab a couple of hours to set this up and I reckon everyone can help keep this project going. I know some friends who would love a sneak peak into how our lives work......I think i will recruit my kids to help set the project up this weekend!! Thanks Ali for the inspiration......

For the past couple days, I've been thinking that this would be an awesome distraction for November and December.... Only I'm a scaredy-cat perfectionist type and the kit is sold out. So, not only do I get to have a distraction. I get a lesson in having fun just being creative.
I'm so grateful to see so many links to other participants' projects. I'll definitely look at them.

Ali,
This year it looks like you've created your own cover page for the album, but last year you designed one that matched the overlays. Any chance you will have a cover page this year too? I didn't commit to DD quickly enough and will be binding it all myself.

Ali,
I bought your overlay and printed it on 8.5 x 11. My sheet came out 6.75 x 9.5. What do I do to get it to print right??
Please help.
Thanks.
Linda
Hi Linda - when you are in the print box for Adobe Reader make sure the Page Scaling is set to "none."
Thanks! I had the same problem :)

Received my DD kit last week and spent all week working on it. I have almost completed my foundation pages and can't wait to see what others have done. I am really looking forward to this years DD. I too have attempted to complete this project for the past 2 years without success, this year I am bound and determined to complete it.
Hope everyone is having a much fun as I am!

Ali you have inspired me, I have never done DD before, nothing even close to it but was so tempted to do it this year after reading your earlier posts. Then doubt myself and thought with a new baby coming and all the changes coming to us that adding in DD would be too much. I realize now that is exactly WHY I should be doing it this year so can document our family growing and capture this last holiday season as a family of 3 before we become 4 :-)
So I am a little late to the game and far too late for one of SC's kits but have just ordered Elle's Studio new christmas kit and next week will make all my foundation pages just struggling with what to use as an album. Thanks for all the inspiration your website has become a daily fix :-)
Awesome Mandy - sounds like you have just the right attitude :). Enjoy!

This will be my first year doing DD and I haven't quite got my pages prepped yet, although I'm getting there! I've been loving looking at everybody's take on it. Where did the links go for people who were sharing their foundation pages? Did they get removed or did my computer swallow them? (This second option is entirely possible...)
Hi Caroline :) - it's right at the bottom of this post (right above where the comments begin).
NOW I can see them ... before I could see the title and text, but no links. Like it was taunting me. Reckon my computer swallowed them then spat them out...:) Thanks Ali!

Ok, Ali, going to join you this year. I have a mini book series I have done in the past, which I will do also, but I'm going to do a digital version of DD this year. We'll see how this works out. I love this time of year.
Awesome!

Ali, Although I have followed your blog for quite sometime, I just ran across your december daily project. I was really bummed to see that the kit is sold out. Any chance of it being restocked? Or do you have links somewhere as to how to order pieces individually. (I did see a few) P.S. I am a huge fan!

Well, I've meandered through the internet and I am MORE excited than before and, more importantly, I am feeling more confident about my ability to do this! Everyone seems so nice and helpful to everyone else and supportive of different styles.
You can do it!

I know there is a way to change the day of the week on the overlay's. I did it last year, but I can't seem to find your instructions... would you mind sharing with me how to do this?

I've done my pages and I'm so excited! I opted for an A5 landscape lever arch file so that I could create pages of 6" x 8". It looks so cute!
I don't tend to use page protectors as I make my pages with lots of interactive elements. I love the fact that photos and stories can be discovered under flaps and tucked inside pockets. Plus I can create pages of any shape I fancy!

I just wish my kit would get here I ordered on the 3rd and still no kit I got the email that the covers would be shipped at a later date at no expense to me and I understand and Im ok with that because I thought I will be busy putting all the foundation pages together but without the kit that can't happen I am going to be so far behind I see a few sleepless night ahead in my future if it ever arrives. I am bummed I wanted to be done by now...

Hi ALi, I finally gave gave in :-) to this project after "stalking" for the past 2 years at your master pieces. I don't have the DD kit but I hope I can do justice to the materials available in my craft room. Thanks for inspiring me. You are awesome!
You totally can do it justice Mei Ann - the kit isn't necessary to get the stories told :).

Hi Ali,
I'm sure you posted this somewhere but I am having a difficult time finding it. Where are your page protectors from with the small pockets?
Hope you're doing great!!
xo
