This will be my first year doing a December daily, I picked up a few of these and am going to the local sb store today to get an album and some page protectors then tonight is a night of Bones on dvd and putting together the album so it is ready!! You are such an inspiration Ali, Thank you so much!! I do want to ask something though, I know your kids are still young, but have you ever thought about putting together some "teenage" themed brushes and overlays? That would be a great Christmas present I could get myself!!!

Ali, for some reason I am unable to get the December daily overlays to print at the size to fit the pagE protectors. I printed all 31 out and then received my DD binder and the overlays were too large. I can't seem to figure how to size the PDF to fit the binders. Any suggestions.

Hi Judy - when printing make sure that "page scaling" in Adobe Reader is set to "none." For some reason printers want to auto-correct the fit of the image to the page making it either larger or smaller.

Thanks Judy for asking and Ali for the answer. I could not figure out to get it right and I have printed Day 1 about 10 times. This works GREAT! I can't wait to start putting it together.

My favorite is the Christmas twill strips. I love using them between two photos. I'm happy about the sale because I want to add a few others to my collection.

Hi Miranda - they do take paypal. I believe you just need to email them to set that up or here's something about it listed in the FAQ: http://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/tips/questions/93/Can+I+use+PayPal+on+your+Site. You can email them here: http://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/supplies/contact_us.php

Ali I am looking at doing my DD 8.5X11 this year and want to use the newest layered templates. I saw here that they can be resized fairly easily in PSE so would it matter if I got the 6x8.5 size or the 12X12?

Thanks I'm enjoying stocking up for my DD

Hi Angela - just want to clarify that you are talking about the actual layered templates vs. the overlays. If you mean re-sizing the actual layered templates (like these: http://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/supplies/product_info.php/products_id/12978) it would take a bit more work. If it was me and I wanted to do 8.5x11 and use layered templates I'd probably get the 12x12 and then adjust/crop them (you'll likely lose some of the content but it won't distort). Tell me if that's what you were talking about vs. the overlays. If you're talking about the overlays, I've got an 8.5x11 set available here: http://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/supplies/product_info.php/products_id/12980

Thanks for asking the question and Ali for answering. I wasn't sure what to buy. Ali will you be creating the templates for the 6 x 8.5? I did this last year printed and digital and LOVED it! So I might be able to modify them.

Looking forward to this year - not sure if I will do both or just digital.

      Ali
Yes I do want to use the actual layered templates, guess I misunderstood how easy it would be to resize and use them.

I plan to use the overlays that are 8.5X11 as my right hand page and wanted to also use the layered templates in addition as my left hand page. (I did this last year with the overlays and templates and really liked the way it turned out)

Maybe I'll just use the 6x8.5 layered templates and attach them to a 8.5X11 so I don't lose anything trying to resize.

      Thanks

Hi Ali, I have purchased the Studio Calico kit (still waiting for its arrival in Australia) and am thinking about purchasing your templates to use with the kit. Last year I loved using the templates, especially the ability to fill a whole page with one photo. I'm a bit confused as to how to do that this year with the change to 6x8.5 inch. A lot of the templates seem to want to fill the page - ie a non-standard printing size.

I uderstand that you are likely to print at home and trim to suit, but what advice would you have for those who can't? How else can we use the templates?

PS I am so excited to be starting DD this year and love the idea of a kit (and all that you have provided so far!) so please don't take my comments as being negative or critical, just a bit perplexed :)

Hi Kelly - thanks for the comments. Last year's the size I used as 6x8 - also not really a traditional printing size. When printing here at home I print on 8.5x11 paper and trim (just like you mentioned). If I was going to upload it to a developer I would have it printed at that same size (or 8x10 which is more common and you might be able to find better deals at that size) and then trim off the excess. Also, a company called Persnickety Prints is offering prints at the 6x8.5 inch size this year as well (not sure about their international shipping). You can check them out here: http://persnicketyprints.com/ (when printing you can select the page size that says "Ali Edwards December Daily").

Hi Ali - thanks for responding. 6x8 is a standard print size here in australia, so perhaps I was spoilt last year and need to try your work-around this year :)

Also, my kit arrived today. Very excited to get started!

      Kelly -
Just to let you know Im in WA and have used Persnickety Prints before - they were fantastic! Great for 12x12 prints too.
Out of interest where/ who did you buy your Studio Calico Kit from?
Love your work Ali - I just put my kiddies to be and jumped on here to order 30%off at DD but Ive missed the sale _ Argh for timezones!
Thanks - hope you don't mind me replying here x.

      Hi Samone,
Thanks for the feedback on Persnickety Prints. My concern in using them is that it will take too long for shipping. For December Daily, I want the prints quickly so that I can be finished with the project shortyly after December. Otherwise, I wont finish it or I just wont enjoy doing it.

I ordered my kit directly from Studio Calico on the day they went on sale. I Believe they're sold out now.

The Designer Digitals sale is still on! We are ahead of US time, so you can still purchase. Get to it!!:)
