December Daily™ 2011 | Day Seven
Welcome to December Daily™ 2011 | Day Seven.
Last night we attended a Christmas concert for Anna's preschool class. It was awesome.
Such a fun group.
I'm blurring out the faces of the other kids for their privacy.
Both pages were created in Photoshop and printed here at home.
Text art on these two photos is from my new Outline Christmas Brushes And Stamps set.
On top of the printed photo for page 1 I included a little star from the Echo Park chipboard package.
To add a little bit of something I used embroidery thread and a needle and wrapped it around the chipboard star (used a needle to go through the photo paper).
I repeated a bit of embroidery thread on the second page - stitching it around the American Crafts White Macaw Glitter letter A.
Pattern paper on this page is My Mind's Eye Wrap It Up.
As a side-note today I just wanted to say how fun it is to see how people from all around the world approach this project. I love this one I saw from Vee yesterday in the Studio Calico gallery:
I love the colors and the layers and the texture and it just feels fun.
Lots of fun examples floating around out there.

Ali, Love Love Love this project. Lots of late nights having creative fun. If you have time, how do you blur out certain things on pictures to be able to post? Happy December 8th!
Yep - use the rectangular marquee tool (the dotted line rectangle) to select an area and then go to Filter and choose Blur. I usually do the Gausian Blur (you can adjust the amount of blur).
Becky I am assuming she does that in photoshop there is a tool call the blur tool, its under the filter dropdown..hope that helps :)

love love love - too cute!!! one question - what was your camera set on to get those wonderful photo's? i am having trouble with dark room/light stage photo's and want to be on point next week for our concert {last night's dance performance was a disaster!}. any tips would be great. thanks.
I was shooting AV. I think the ISO was 1200 (the lens is 2.8).

Fingers crossed that I'll be doing my pages over the weekend and posting them here on Sunday or Monday! I have the cover done, the photos each day (just not printed out yet) and the journaling from each day ready to roll! AND I am not feeling like I'm "not keeping up" - I am rolling with it! I am off work for 2 weeks and it's gonna happen :)

Ali... I was just wondering if you still know the font you used for the numbers in your overlay? I have been trying to match that for the rest of my layouts and cant find the exact match. Thanks so much! Your doing a wonderful job I wish mine looked half as good as yours!!!
haha that is funny that I couldnt find it... and it is called numbers!! THank you!
Hi - the font is called Numbers (it is not a free font): http://www.typography.com/fonts/font_overview.php?productLineID=100018

I love full page photos--they are so dramatic. But what about all the pages you created ahead of time? Aren't they just being covered up by these large photos?
Not at all. Here's a link to my foundation pages (part one): http://aliedwards.com/2011/10/december-daily-2011-the-foundation-pages-part-one.html. I set myself up with the transparencies between the pages and printed out the blank overlay pages. I didn't do anything for the left side of the spread (where I often do full page photos). On the right I'm just adding photos/elements to the cardstock overlay pages I already printed out. The 1/2 page transparencies are still there (I didn't include a photograph of today's page in the album that would have included the overlay + number combination).

Love this! Love the way you added a letter with a little stitching. I'm two days behind now, but checking your blog each morning is a great motivator to keep up - thank you so much!! :)

Just wanted to pop in and thank you for the inspiration on this project. I'm doing a very simplified version and I'm a few days behind but just recording something each day is great and having created a super simple "formula" for myself is keeping it stress free and easy. I didn't plan to do this and didn't have anything done before 12/1 so no foundation pages other than the sheets of cardstock I bought.

Love seeing your pages every day. I have to admit to falling behind on this project. Hope to get caught up perhaps on Sunday. Love my pages so far though. It is a good exercise to record things and traditions.
Aloha, Kate

Have been reading your blog for a long time, never commented before. But I absolutely love your style. :) My child are late, late teens and I wish I would have done more of this when they were little. They love looking back at all of the pictures and If I had a december daily from long ago it would be so fun to look at now. You kiddos are going to not only enjoy looking now but also LATER
Thanks for all you do!

Ali, my book is already so full and I'm wondering if it will all fit. Are you finding that true for you?
Yep - happening here. It happens every year no matter what album I'm using.

Just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your December Daily and the links to see them all! It is like Christmas morning as a kid ! I get my coffee (and yes cookies!)and go straight to the computer to enjoy them 1x1. The different styles are so fun to see. I finally have my book foundation but am waiting for some prints to get started. Sure wish I was on the ball with the printing at home stuff.I have always been afraid the home prints would all fade over time? If you use the premium photo paper and a good printer like yours do you not have to be concerned with the fade out? Santa is bringing me a I-pad 3 when they come out (So sad he has to make another trip to my house!) so I guess the good printer will have to wait! Happy Holidays! Your kids are SO darling. Anna is just growing up too fast...

I have fond memories of those preschool Christmas concerts! They are just so sweet!
I'm doing a December Daily e-mail to all the grandparents and to one aunt (none of whom are on facebook.) I found out about the December Daily concept a little late to get a book ready, so I thought it'd be fun for to try and do it via e-mail (and I'm uploading pics to facebook every day - Ruth Suttie Gauss.) I probably need to be doing more, but there's so much to do at this time of year some days are a little sparse if there's not any activities that I attend. I love the idea, though, and hope to do it next year! Thanks for all you share!

Just posted the link to my gallery. Sorry, the way it is set up I can't separate the individual pages & the credits don't show. Working on it. Le sigh.

For the first year ever I'm still on schedule and its all down to prepping my pages in advance! I like to mix up the shapes and sizes of my pages and I check the night before how much space I'll have for the next day. It kind of sets my brain to collect the right amount of 'stuff' for each day. I'm so in love with this album and love to see what everyone else is creating. Thanks for providing a place for us to share it all xx
