December Daily™ 2011 | Day Sixteen

Welcome to December Daily™ 2011 | Day Sixteen.

Today was all about errands. Some holiday-related but most were just related to the basics of life: post office, Target, Walgreens, doctor's office.

I decided to do a collage of the receipts I collected while out and about paired with a photo I took while waiting in line at the post office.

I started with a white piece of cardstock and simply adhered receipts onto the page.

I also added my two lists, a strip of washi tape (not sure of the source on this one), and a metal circle tag with a great date stamp from the post office.

While standing in line at the post office I took a photo looking down at my shoes:

That became the background image for page two. On top of the photo I added foam letter stickers and journaling with a Sharpie Poster Paint Pen and a silver Pitt Artist pen from Faber-Castell.

Love your idea on errands and receipts that you went for shopping. My question is I know that some receipts can fade when you keep them all years. How do you keep it from fading?

I was wondering the same thing about receipts. I love the idea of saving them, but after a few years they fade. Do you have receipts in your old DD that have survived well?

I'm pretty sure I got that tape from Studio Calico in one of the add-on kits, it came with a thinner blue one with snowflakes on it.
    Cool page, Ali!

Probably my fave page so far! Never would have thought of a day like this. Thanks for the ongoing inspiration.

It is so fun to follow your (and others) December Daily - it becomes so obvious that we have the same things "going around" this time of the year despite which part of the world we all live in (I live in Sweden). Today I also took one round of errands, and even if it is not my favorite thing to do (especially this close to Christmas) it feels good having ticked off some of those things on the "todo-list" :-)

I LOVE this!!! I really like the idea with the date on the tag. I have saved the date from the po stamp before but never thought to put it in a tag circle!!!

Love, love, love the idea of documenting errand day. I think I should scrap this sometime other than just Christmas.

Thank you so much for this! I have all these receipts, lists, etc., I have been keeping and one picture of shopping and I thought I wouldn't use any of it! This will work perfectly!

This is such a fun idea, love love this!! My days have been like this too lately.

I also wanted to know how you did the date stamp on the ring? I don't think we have date stamps like that? Could you explain more, it looks cool.

Enjoy your weekend. We are making Gingerbread houses today, so much fun to do.

    prayers and hugs

That receipt collage is genius! I can think of so many ways to use that idea for week in the Life, or with wrapping paper after a birthday party; all the receipts from a party planning event; or the stuff you buy before you leave on a trip (or while on a trip). Great way to use and document something that is so often tossed away or stuffed in a filing cabinet.

Love your collage!! Thanks for your wonderful idea. I have tons of receipts from these days and this is a good idea to scrap them. I will also scrap the m&m chcolates packages...every year they have a different design and I already have 7 or 8 different ones (very cute).

I would love to know how you got the date stamp - did you just ask the postal worker to stamp it? Or did you punch it off of something you already had?

It's a GENIOUS idea - and the PERFECT embellishment. :)

I've noticed that the new type of printed receipts fade significantly over time. Your page is really fabulous (as always) but the background may look blank in a year or so.

Is the envelope part of the photo or stuck on later? It's very clever, the angles and all, so I am impressed

wow, love the daily things scrapped and this topic you choose for this day. I'm a few pages behind with my december daily...:)

I was wondering how you "write" (eg. on you overlays) in photoshop; with a pen I assume, with which tool you choose in your program?
I've still not found in my paint shop pro program, in combination with my wacom pen, how to write and draw nice and that it really seems my handwriting. So the tool & settings in the program. Can you help???

    Awesome page!

I have a question tho not specifically related to this day. On your baseball protectors you normally sew them shut. I do not have a sewing machine .. I was wondering what are some other ideas about how to keep things from sliding out of the little pockets. I am thinking washi tape but I am not sure if that would work out too well.

    Thanks :)

A great idea for those days when we are running around all the time - I always forget to take pictures. It's interesting how different people would relate to this kind of layout. As a Mum with 2 young kids I think = exhaustion! We have one more day like this on our schedule before Christmas.

Today is going to be my nonstop errands day! We have houseguests, but I will have to let them fend for themselves - stil have about 30% of my shopping to do and it's my last day off til Christmas Eve. I have promised myself if it's not done before Christmas Eve, it has to wait til the 26th, cause I want to have a quiet, reflective Christmas Eve no matter what.

Ali, your receipt collage has inspired me to do a combo of receipts along with my gift list - the names of who I am buying for with what I've purchased so far - that should make a neat page in my Dec Daily!

LOVED the post! Quick question, if anyone can help me: how do I get the 1" circle I punch into the metal rimmed tag?
