December Daily™ 2011 | Day Sixteen

Welcome to December Daily™ 2011 | Day Sixteen.

Today was all about errands. Some holiday-related but most were just related to the basics of life: post office, Target, Walgreens, doctor's office.

I decided to do a collage of the receipts I collected while out and about paired with a photo I took while waiting in line at the post office.

I started with a white piece of cardstock and simply adhered receipts onto the page.

I also added my two lists, a strip of washi tape (not sure of the source on this one), and a metal circle tag with a great date stamp from the post office.

While standing in line at the post office I took a photo looking down at my shoes:

That became the background image for page two. On top of the photo I added foam letter stickers and journaling with a Sharpie Poster Paint Pen and a silver Pitt Artist pen from Faber-Castell.

Another great page. I would love to be able to flick through your DD. And I have to get one of those white pens!

I think that washi tape is Martha Stewart? I have that one--it came in a set of 4.

Your receipt collage is so awesome. I love the washit tape + tag strip. Makes it look sp festive. I did some thing similar for one my early days. I turned one of myrick compare lists into a background page & embellished with cutouts of the TradervJoes bag!

I was thinking the same thing -- it takes a certain gift to see art possibilities in a stack of receipts. :)

I really love the collage! I will be using this idea next week. Recently I read about the very high BPA levels in many receipts and was wondering how that affects the acid free/"archiveability" aspect of scrapbooking. Is it something to be concerned about?

Awesome little collage with the receipts. I'm always wondering how to place them, for one of my days I just put them in an envelope. Can you share your process for putting that stamp from the post office onto the metal rim tag? I have those tags but always have a hard time getting stuff in there. Do you know the measurements?

Love your idea on errands and receipts that you went for shopping. My question is I know that some receipts can fade when you keep them all years. How do you keep it from fading?

I was wondering the same thing about receipts. I love the idea of saving them, but after a few years they fade. Do you have receipts in your old DD that have survived well?

I wondered the same thing. I know they fade really quickly as they are thermally printed. I am thinking of doing the collage then photocopying the page and using the photocopy/scan (later printed out). Love the washi tape

I'm pretty sure I got that tape from Studio Calico in one of the add-on kits, it came with a thinner blue one with snowflakes on it.
    Cool page, Ali!

It is so fun to follow your (and others) December Daily - it becomes so obvious that we have the same things "going around" this time of the year despite which part of the world we all live in (I live in Sweden). Today I also took one round of errands, and even if it is not my favorite thing to do (especially this close to Christmas) it feels good having ticked off some of those things on the "todo-list" :-)

This is such a fun idea, love love this!! My days have been like this too lately.

I also wanted to know how you did the date stamp on the ring? I don't think we have date stamps like that? Could you explain more, it looks cool.

Enjoy your weekend. We are making Gingerbread houses today, so much fun to do.

    prayers and hugs

That receipt collage is genius! I can think of so many ways to use that idea for week in the Life, or with wrapping paper after a birthday party; all the receipts from a party planning event; or the stuff you buy before you leave on a trip (or while on a trip). Great way to use and document something that is so often tossed away or stuffed in a filing cabinet.
