December Daily™ 2011 | Day Twenty-Two

Welcome to December Daily™ 2011 | Day Twenty-Two.

Can't believe there's just a couple days left before Christmas.

Chris has the kids today and I'm busy wrapping and cleaning up my office and getting ready for the celebration that's on it's way.

One of the things I've loved this year is that my Mom sent a few little gifts that were ornaments that belonged to my Grandma Cathy (my Mom's Mom). Fun for the kids and fun for me. My Grandma Cathy got to meet Simon (loved him of course) but she never got to meet Anna - we know she would have just loved her to pieces. She especially would have loved Anna's early interest in clothes and getting all dressed-up. We love you and miss you Grandma!

Made a little "joy to the world" word art to cut with the Silhouette. If you purchased the kit from Studio Calico it's available for you to download on the December Daily™ message board over there (you need to have purchased the kit and be logged in to access it).

Christmas Quote Strip on top of the photo (my Mom had sent me that quote awhile back and I found it perfectly fitting).

Here's a look at these pages in the album:

Hi Ali, It's Christmas Eve (morning) here in Australia and for the 23rd time this month I've come downstairs to start the day and logged on to your site to check out your beautiful DD page for the day. It struck me that your daily share has been like my very own advent calendar; a little joyful daily surprise. Thank you so very much for being you. Have a lovely Christmas.

I love your Mom, Ali! What an awesome gesture. I have been thinking about my grandpa (my mom's dad) a lot this year. It will be 11 years ago in January that he died. I think that I miss his letters the most and sending him updates about my boys. Thanks for the beautiful pages! And a very Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Christmas ornaments seem capable of holding so much -- love, memories of family members, tradition. My parents recently gave me an ornament that my Dad thinks was my Grandmother's when she was a child. It is a hand-carved rabbit figure with a handmade dress.

Ali, I bought the kit from SC and have spent 10 mins over on the message board trying to find where to get the "words" above. Can you help me with more instructions on what to look for? Thanks, Kathy, Brisbane, Australia

Hi Kathy - it's included in the very first post on this page (called "One Last Printable/PNG/Silhouette File For You | Joy To The World"): http://www.studiocalico.com/community/december-daily-ali-edwards

    Ali,
I got my Silhoutte for Christmas last year and haven't played with it much. When I saw how you used it for your DD, I think I just fell in love with it all over again!!!
Please please please tell me that you are going to design for them and there will be all kinds of wonderfulness for me to buy in the online store???? :)

Hi Shelly - I won't be designing for them but it's likely you will be able to buy files specifically saved for the Silhouette via Designer Digitals in the future (as of now you can use my word art and trace it using the Silhouette Studio software).

Just lovely! I sooo love the memories each ornament brings! The story attached to your ornament is very touching! How kind of your mother to share it with you and Anna.
I decorated our tree in early December and it took me 6 1/2 hours to decorate and I loved every minute of it... the memories of each ornament came flooding back! Some day I wish to share the stories behind each one with my grand-children. Some day they will receive them at Christmas...
Thank you for reminding me that our ancestors are also important in our lives. We need to share as many stories of them with our children and grand children whenever the chance arises... Christmas is a perfect time!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Love this Ali, so many sweet stories in your DD this year. Love that some will be of you and your past holiday's. I'm already loving this album of yours and would love to sit and actually look at it and enjoy.

Many blessings and love for you and family this Christmas. Hope it goes smooth and magical for ALL OF YOU!!

Can't wait to see those pictures of their faces on Christmas morning.

    love, dawn

How cool is that! Love it! In our family, too many things were thrown away and not regarded as precious memories. You are so very blessed to have a mother that is so giving and sharing these wonderful bits of life. Have a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.

When my daughter was born we started a tradition that each year she gets a dated ornament with her name on it and these are my some of my favorites and next year I get to start this tradition with a grandbaby! Merry Christmas Ali, Simon and Anna may your Holidays be blessed!

Love this. Each year I give the kids an ornament (got the idea from the gift your Grandma gave you Ali) and I asked that as my Mum got out her decorations she put aside a few that have been on our tree for many years. I will give them to the kids next year for their ornament.

What perfect timing for this post. My mom passed away last week (the 18th) and so now her death will always be the week before Christmas. Christmas was always very important to my mother as far as providing gifts and excitement for her 2 grandchildren. My daughter is still very young (8 yrs old) and this has given me some ideas in how I can still incorporate her love of the season for Christmases to come.

Merry Christmas Ali! I enjoy your posts so very much and have for years now. I have done December Daily for the past 3 years and tried to start it this year but just could not get it going...I boxed up the neat little things I had put aside for it and will just try again next year when hopefully my stress level is a little lower. I wanted to tell you that I not only truly enjoy your posts but the links to so many other talented ladies that you include....I could get addicted to blogging! I want you to know that I am praying for you, for Simon, for Anna and for Chris...praying that you will all be able to see God's plan for your changing lives and praying that he will give you strength along the way. I am sure that the future holds much happiness and delight for your family. Merry Christmas.
