December Daily™ 2011 | Day Twenty

Welcome to December Daily™ 2011 | Day Twenty.

Yesterday when I found a little window of time to work on my page I took a good look around at my piles and looked specifically for something I could use in my album. I didn't have to look far or deep:

Anna's been coloring and drawing up a storm the last few days so it wasn't too hard to find a couple things to use as the main content for our Day 20.

First up, a lovely purple Christmas tree:

Love it.

Day 20 has a divided page protector insert:

I added two different kinds of small stars (old book paper punched stars and Jenni Bowlin chipboard stars), an ornament from the Echo Park chipboard set, and a piece of a dot-to-dot from Simon (he's never been much of a coloring-kid but man he loves dot to dot).

And the second page:

This was also a drawing that Anna did - the first one I've seen that are a bunch of horizontal lines (you know I loved that). It was perfect for a bit of journaling. I also added some of those American Crafts foil letter stickers as a title.

Here's a look at Day 20 in the album:

I like it. Start Anna young on designing scrapbook pages! She will look back when she is older and love this.

I love Anna's journaling lines she so helpfully provided! How do you get your journaling to fit so perfectly each time? Been wondering about that as I find it hard to write "just the right amount" ... Do you practice on another sheet, do you edit what you include as you go? Would love to know your process!

    Hi Ali,
I was getting down on myself this year for not being able to get started on my December Daily album. I tried to get pictures everyday, but then I wasn't at home in MI, I was away in TX helping my daughter recoop from surgery, so I was very busy. ow I am home (on the 19th) and have missed so much of the month. But then I thought... why does it have to be December for this year? Why couldn't I do a January album and incorporate some of December into it. Hmm??? Why not! Thank you so much Ali for putting so many different idea's into all of our noggins (heads). Merry Christmas!

I'd also argue that your experience in Texas and helping your daughter are valuable stories. They are a part of your December. It doesn't much matter whether what happened was "Christmasy," simply that it is part of your story. Case in point, this DEcember Daily layout I did based on a day spent in the ER with my mom in 2009: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40081005@N00/4160559661/. Years from now, having a record of that time will be valuable for both of you.

I love the lines. I need to nab my three year old's masterful lines to use too. Thanks for the inspiration.

Love the idea of the lines for journaling - my kids used to do drawings like that - I wonder if I still have some somewhere. Love the purple Christmas tree too - I love it when they go to town like that.

Anna is 2.5 and already gets the concept of coloring in the lines, so to speak. I'm impressed!

I can't wait for my 1 year old to start coloring and scribbling. Definitely looking forward to his first artwork in my Project Life album for 2012! I put those chunky Crayola crayons in his stocking so we'll see if he gets it. :)
