Decmber Daily™ 2011 | Day Eight
Welcome to December Daily™ 2011 | Day Eight.
Today I felt like playing.
I've long been a fan of square collages - for photos, for embellishments, and often times ones that include a bit of both.
Today I decided to stick with embellishments and had fun digging through my holiday stuff to add to the simple collage.
I know one of the first questions you might have is about the background stamp.
Here's the details on the stamp:
You could definitely make the same grouping with one single square stamp repeated to create a larger square or rectangle.
I've had this stamp for a long, long time now. I still love it and get excited to use it on a project. I did find it one place online (I've never purchased from this place and don't anything about them except they popped up on a google search for the stamp): Expressions In Ink.
UPDATE | I heard from the owner of Expressions In Ink this morning (I had linked to them in my post today as a source for the 9-square block stamp). Michelle let me know that she and her husband purchased the Stamp It! line back in 2005 and have since added hundreds of designs. They have several block group stamps available here (super cool). Thanks for connecting with me Michelle!
Here's a close up of that collage:
Products (starting at the top left and working across): American Crafts Foil E, AE/TT Holiday In A Box Stamp using Colorbox Silver Ink, bits of ribbon, Santa button from Evalicious, chipboard star with Martha Stewart silver and gold glitter on top (actually did that one the other night when I glittered those words I hung next to the front door), Pebbles wood button, Jenni Bowlin Black Doily Flower, Pebbles Twist Ties (with a line of stitching on top), and words from my 25 Moments stamp set (also in Colorbox Silver Ink).
For the second page I added a bit of journaling about how I was feeling today:
A couple little black and white word stickers stitched along the top + jouranling + a combo of those Pebbles Twist Ties and ribbon along on the bottom.
Here's what it looks like in the album:

I love the simplicity of today's page. It just reminds me that I don't need to fill every open space with something.
Thanks Ali and have a great day!

Wish I still had kids at home to make a journal about. A little harder when you are a grandma with long distance contact! I love all the inspiration and ideas. And I like how you used the Hero Arts stamp as a background. They make the best back ground stamps. Wishing you a great holiday season.

I love the pages when you 'play!' You are the queen of white space and that column of journaling is perfect. I hope the stress winds down very soon and you have a wonderful weekend with Simon and Anna. Hugs!

This was PEFECT for me to see. I forgot to take any of the day and now I know exactly how I will do my "Day 8." Thank you so much. Also, I don't have the stamp, but it would be pretty easy to duplicate the outcome with the right font in Photoshop or Word. It won't look exactly like the stamp, but with the right embellishments, it should work.

I love it. I am so impressed that when you feel tired and flat you can produce this- I would be retreating to to a dark corner with wine and chocolate! I'm not surprised that you are worn with all the usual stresses of being a working wife and mother in a busy season, not to mention the extra pressure of having thousands of inspiration hungry fans waiting to pounce on every word you say! Don't forget to take care of yourself Ali :)

love the honest journaling in this one. Some days are better than others and it's nice to see that reflected in the DD. From all the giveaway blog posts and extensive details of the DD it's clear you are working hard.

Just wanted to send along a hug. I admire you being so candid both in your albums and here. This time of year can be such a bittersweet combination of things. Hope you enjoyed making this and got a little energy from it. It's just beautiful.
