Decmber Daily™ 2011 | Day Eight

Welcome to December Daily™ 2011 | Day Eight.

Today I felt like playing.

I've long been a fan of square collages - for photos, for embellishments, and often times ones that include a bit of both.

Today I decided to stick with embellishments and had fun digging through my holiday stuff to add to the simple collage.

I know one of the first questions you might have is about the background stamp.

Here's the details on the stamp:

You could definitely make the same grouping with one single square stamp repeated to create a larger square or rectangle.

I've had this stamp for a long, long time now. I still love it and get excited to use it on a project. I did find it one place online (I've never purchased from this place and don't anything about them except they popped up on a google search for the stamp): Expressions In Ink.

UPDATE | I heard from the owner of Expressions In Ink this morning (I had linked to them in my post today as a source for the 9-square block stamp). Michelle let me know that she and her husband purchased the Stamp It! line back in 2005 and have since added hundreds of designs. They have several block group stamps available here (super cool). Thanks for connecting with me Michelle!

Here's a close up of that collage:

Products (starting at the top left and working across): American Crafts Foil E, AE/TT Holiday In A Box Stamp using Colorbox Silver Ink, bits of ribbon, Santa button from Evalicious, chipboard star with Martha Stewart silver and gold glitter on top (actually did that one the other night when I glittered those words I hung next to the front door), Pebbles wood button, Jenni Bowlin Black Doily Flower, Pebbles Twist Ties (with a line of stitching on top), and words from my 25 Moments stamp set (also in Colorbox Silver Ink).

For the second page I added a bit of journaling about how I was feeling today:

A couple little black and white word stickers stitched along the top + jouranling + a combo of those Pebbles Twist Ties and ribbon along on the bottom.

Here's what it looks like in the album:

I absolutely adore this layout! The clean classic design of that element collage makes my heart sing! In the picture of you holding up just that page, I thought to myself- that would make an awesome Christmas Card.

I love your pages, great work! But I don't see you using much of the Studio Calico December Daily kit. I was really hoping to be inspired by you to use the products from the kit considering it was quite an investment!

Hi Leah - thanks for the feedback. I'm using pieces of it here and there (and used pieces from it for my foundation pages, number inserts, etc). I'll continue to pull from it in the coming days. I tend to use smaller pieces here and there.

I realize that I'm a little early on this project, but I definitely want to do this project for December 2012. I was wondering where you found that size of page protector? Also, do you have an idea if you are going to create page templates and what size? Just curious!
