A Day In The Life | The Documentation

Here's a look at some of the photos I captured yesterday during my Day In The Life:

A Day In The Life | Taking Care
A Day In The Life | Before Breakfast
A Day In The Life | Breakfast
A Day In The Life | Sending Off
A Day In The Life | Photographing
A Day In The Life | Working
A Day In The Life | Lily Sleeping
A Day In The Life | Washing
A Day In The Life | Homework
A Day In The Life | Ballet
A Day In The Life | Reading
A Day In The Life | A + G

It was a very normal, very ordinary day around here - exactly what I wanted to document.

And here's the photo collage I put together using my A Day In The Life Layered Template:

I'm going to slip this into an 8.5x11 page protector and add it to Project Life for this week along with my Daily Sheets:

I decided to do a video version of Day in the Life. I've been meaning to video one of our days and I thought yesterday would be the perfect day to join you in video form. Thanks Ali!

Ali, this just makes me smile and smile!! You have such a talent for catching the everyday little things. Your office is gorgeous in white, love love it. So happy you shared so many of little George, was hoping for that. I've been busy all morning with last minute decorations plans for my now 15 year old daughter's bday TODAY!!! She doesn't know, TOP SECRET!! Even getting her siblings out of school early to surprise her.
I've already been praying extra for you today so that tomorrow your little girl will have the best birthday and know without a doubt how LOVED she is by BOTH her parents. Sending you strength and patience and UPLIFTING CHEERS to carry you thru this weekend. Enjoy this time with your sweet 3 year old, it goes by sooooo fast.
Thanks again for making time to share a DAY IN OUR LIVES with us. I enjoyed it soooo much.

I didn't know if I'd tackle the day in the life yesterday - but I woke up and went at it - so glad I did. Thanks for the inspiration Ali!

Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary...is what it is about.

I felt like my day was just too...dull, my pictures just dumb or badly taken...and almost trashed the whole thing last night after I worked on pulling everything together, vowing to do it again another day instead.
I slept on it, reopened everything this afternoon with fresh eyes, and decided it was...what it was...and it was worth saving. I reflected on these feelings in my observations:

"It is sometimes a bit difficult to find things that are photo worthy for a project like this. And to a certain extent, I feel like this whole thing is blah. I know the point of this exercise is to embrace the ordinary, but today, other than a surprise early school dismissal, was really a very laid back day without a lot of excitement. As I write all this and finish it up, I feel a bit unfulfilled, but I also know that years from now I will enjoy this snapshot into normal life. The next time I might try to pick a weekend day."

    Thanks for sharing, Ali.

I love how the pets are in so many of the pictures. They become such a big part of our lives, don't they? Mine follow me around all day.

LOVE it Ali! I am doing A Day in the Life on the 12th of EVERY single month this year and making it into a separate book that goes along with my Project LIfe book (I am doing PL, but my own version, not using the actual PL stuff this year)!
    so LOVE your photos!

I quite enjoyed doing this. Although I'm frustrated that I forgot in the morning, so didn't get breakfast, lunch or friend coming in and that I over-relied on my iPhone rather than using my big camera, I got a couple shots I'm really pleased with including a couple self portraits :) Considering week in the life now. Thanks for the inspiration Ali- you are amazing :) hope you have a lovely time celebrating Anna's 3rd birthday.

ALi, I love that you too need to remind yourself to breathe. I have been sick this week so I didn't really fully participate on February 8th however I took a few extra photos for my project life week than I would have had I not read your blog and been thinking about day in the life even while sick... Thanks for being you & sharing your inspiration & yourself with the world :)

Oh boy...I started gung ho and it turned into a life-changing day, only not for the better. Unfortunately my mom, who lives with us, is almost certainly having a reoccurence of a very agressive cancer. Asking for prayers, I am taking her for the biopsy tomorrow. My mom is such a sweetheart, lives with us, is an angel grandmother to my kids. I am glad I documented this day because it is going to be an important day to look back on, right now the feelings are raw and scary.
