31 Things Begins Next Week

My new 4-week workshop, 31 Things, begins next Thursday at Big Picture Classes.

Here's a few more details about this class for those of you that might be thinking about signing up (or for those of you who are reading about it for the first time today):

This is not a class where you'll be documenting what you do each day for 31 days.

This is a class where you are invited, via daily prompts, to tell 31 stories from your life. Some people will tell stories from today. Some will tell stories from the past. And some will tell stories that combine the two together. Some stories will be serious. Some will be silly. Some might will be hard and others easy.

This is a class that will stretch your writing muscles and encourage you to tell your stories in more detail and depth.

This is a class that focuses on topics/themes you might dismiss when you are thinking about which stories to scrapbook/write about your life. Examples of some of the topics/themes include jewelry, technology, listen, shoes, carry, spirit, outside, covet.

This is a class that would be appropriate for anyone who is interested in writing stories about their life, even if you don't consider yourself a scrapbooker.

This is a class for every kind of memory keeper (paper, digital, art journalers, writers, bloggers, etc because it's really all about the writing).

Class begins on Thursday, May 17th and runs through June 16th. All the daily emails will be archived in the classroom at Big Picture - there will also be a message board and gallery for sharing your work and being a part of the class community.

As with all Big Picture workshops you have complete access to the classroom and the archives after the live class is over.

When you sign up there's a video waiting for you with more details along with layered templates for Photoshop users and Word journaling templates for those that might not use Photoshop.

Registration closes May 23.

You're invited. Learn more and sign up here.

I'm signed up and have watched the video. I just can't decide my format yet. I think I'm going to do a mini album or 8 1/2 x 11 . I love to write!

I've got my notebook ready - loved having an excuse to buy a pretty blank notebook! Can't wait to see the stories we come up with.

So excited! I was all set to do a traditional version, but I'm thinking a blurb book now instead.

Wasn't sure where to post this but I wanted to thank you for the lovely newsletter that you send out. I followed your advice and read the speech by Patti and loved it!! Lucky you to have found her and she find you. I will take her advice to heart as I believe it not only applies to the graduate audience but to all who lived on this earth! Thanks for the uplifting read and it's funny that sometimes
when you have nothing to say, you say the most of all!!
    Happy Mother's Day!!
    xoxo, Christine

    Ali,

I am a little stockpiled on classes/albums that I'm behind on, but I am also the type that doesn't mind this, I like to grab the opportunity while it's there, knowing that sooner or later I will do it! So...if I sign up now but don't start for a few months, will everything be waiting in place for me? And regarding the chats/message boards etc..will that all be saved too? It sounds like such an awesome class!!!!

Hi Nell - yes, everything will be archived in the classroom and the message boards remain open as well - I just won't be there in a committed fashion like I will be during the actual four weeks of the class.

I am deferring this class a little too - I am having surgery on May 29 and have a month off work to recuperate. My plan is to complete the 31 Days class during my time off. I was a little worried about filling in my time as I will be restricted in what I can physically do, so when I saw this class advertised I knew it was meant to be :) Can't wait to get into it!

I am so excited about this. I really want to work in my writing skills. Watched the video and love the templates, but I think I am going to use my smash book to hold my finished stories. I got it as a gift for Christmas and have not known exactly what to do with it and think this may be the perfect project. Can't wait until Thursdays email!

    Also...happy mother's day to you!

Thanks for the reminder to register! I've been looking forward to this class, but needed to wait for pay day to register, but ended up forgetting!

Happy Mother's Day as well! Hope you get to have an amazing day with your kids :-)

Hi Ali! Love the idea of this class, but I too am stockpiled on other projects and life in general. Will you be offering this class at another time? Thanks!

There's no plans at this time to re-run it. When I did Yesterday & Today we re-ran it again 2 years later. Honestly not sure what will be the plan with this one - maybe next year?

I can't wait for the class to start. I signed up and it will be challenging since I'm not a big journaler.

I have been on the fence about taking this class even though it sounds awesome. I am a scrapbooker but have never considered myself a good story teller. My layouts always have the basics in a few sentences but I always have a problem really delving into my feelings to tell stories. Will that hamper my ability to complete these layouts?

Hi Laura - this class is all about telling the stories - much more about that then the layouts themselves. If you are interested in writing more - and the encouragement to do so - then this class is for you. It's not easy for lots of people to tell stories - it takes practice and a willingness to make it happen - you can do it :).

Hi Laura! You don't have to be a good story teller to do this; just remember that anything you jot down will be treasured by family in the future -- anything!

    Hi Ali,
I've looked everywhere for the answer and finally decided to ask here. The layered templates for this class---can I use them if I have Photoshop elements (I think I have version 8 or 9?).
    thanks
