Swing.

Things I know to be true:

Swing Simon.

The swing at Grandma & Grandpa’s is the best.

Oh yes.

Oh yes.

The Scene.

The kids love swinging and I’m actually pretty sure my parents really love pushing them too. The mutual joy there is a favorite thing.

Wrap up.

Simon.

Untitled

Adventure.

Simon loves, loves, loves being at the beach. And if there are smores available there, well, all the better.

Siblings.

Untitled

Untitled

These two. Well, there’s lots of “he won’t let me be the line-leader” and “she’s touching me” and “he/she isn’t sharing” but when it’s good, it’s really good.

Grandma & Anna.

The word thankful doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about my parents.

Untitled

My sweet dog Lily is pretty close to 12 and when she gets to the beach she thinks she’s 2.

Blizzard taste test.

A blizzard taste-test is a really fun thing to do on a Sunday afternoon. The winner seemed to be a tie between the strawberry cheesecake and the banana split (my personal favorite).

Dinner.

I have super fun friends and family who get the photo-taking, crab-eating, long-walking, margarita-drinking, and adore my kids.

Untitled

That the adventures my Dad has taken my kids on will be remembered their whole lives.

Untitled

Untitled

Peter & Anna

Untitled

I love, love, love the beach too.

Untitled

Shore Acres State Park

Photos above were taken by me, my Mom, and Katie (which makes it fun as we all get different angles).

What great pictures these are — so glad that your sweet Lily got to enjoy herself with you all again on the coast. The picture of your mom and Anna…I think they share the same smile with you. Your mom helped me with a cross-stitch project one time and I’ve never forgotten her kindness — please tell her thank you again for me. Thanks for sharing the pictures — it looked like everyone had fun!

I love the way you are keeping joy in your life, and your pictures prove it We are striving for this too after an unexpected terminal cancer diagnosis for my husband, a “healthy” 77 year old on vacation in Phoenix to see spring training baseball games, when he needed emergency care and tests. We have had such peace about it and are thankful that chemo can prolong his life up to 11 months. We had already bought tickets for a family cruise from Montreal to Boston and I hope we can capture the happiness you have in our pictures, as the eleven of us celebrate our 55th anniversary the last week of June. We will have to take him in a wheel chair, because he can’t stand for long, or walk very far, but we hear there is an up-side even in that–wheelchair cruisers get to go to the front of the line! My word for the year is “gratitude” and what a help it has been to my attitude. Thank you again for doing “One Little Word”. Verona

Seeing these photos made my eyes a little moist, for some reason. It’s so nice to have a nice, fun family who love your kids, isn’t it?

I also laughed when I saw someone packed nice glasses (the glass you were holding) for a beach trip lol!

Wonderful! I’m glad to see that Simon allowed you to catch his joy this weekend! I’m amazed that you were all so bundled up! I realize that your weather usually preceeds ours and with the ocean temps probably felt a LOT cooler than just the air temperature. We had record setting highs in the 90s this weekend and then tomorrow’s supposed to drop into the 60s, so perhaps tomorrow starts your weather from the weekend coming here to Illinois?! Thanks for sharing! I’m so glad that everyone seems to have had a magical time!

What a blessing to have other picture takers around you. This past weekend I spent the day painting faces at my daughters school funfair while my husband took them around to all the rides/games/etc.

It was a great day. But guess what? Not a single picture. I could have taken a camera for my husband to use but I still would likely only have gotten a handful of pics. He isn’t one to get right in there and start shooting.

    2 things I know

    1. Grandparents are the best friends your children will ever have. I lost both of mine to cancer. But I am so glad that we lived in the same town as my parents, because my children spent countless hours with their grandparents. I was reminded of this when my daughter graduated from high school last Friday. She gave me two roses in the rose ceremony. One for me, and one in memory of my mom.

    2. Labradors never lose their puppiness gene. Our Molly turned 10 on September 11, 2011. She still likes to run and play with the younger dogs. Molly is the other best friend to our kids – even though they are 23 and 18.

You are so fortunate to have grandparents to be friends to your children. Cherish them.

    A few things:
    1. That swing is absolutely awesome. I want one!
    2. The Harry Potter photo of Simon is even more awesome.
    3. I think you’ve captured the spirit of the Pacific Northwest beautifully with your photos. I’m from Washington (I went to Bellarmine too!), but haven’t been home in awhile. Your photos made me miss it! I think I’ll love the PNW till the end of my days!
