Gotta love these.

One from Anna (with a little help from her teacher at school) and one from Simon (with a little help from Chris on how to spell “appreciate”). Both totally loved.

Had a really nice Mother’s Day. A little time to read the paper, a little time to chat with my Mom (she was here with me on Friday night and we got to go to dinner), a little time to work on my computer, a little time to run an errand to Target, a little time to play at the pool with the kids in the late afternoon (the weather was awesome – in the 80′s), a little time in the yard, a little time for popcorn (always time for popcorn).

In case you can’t read the photo, here’s what each note says:

FROM ANNA | Dear Mommy, I like to eat popcorn with you and go to Target and go on the swings. Thank you for watching unicorns with me and hugging me. I love you! Happy Mother’s Day!

FROM SIMON | Thank you for helping me around the neighborhood and the town. I really appreciate you. Love Simon. PS. I like to snuggle with you.

Man I love those two.

What sweet notes from your children. I got tears in my eyes just reading them, I’m sure you did too! It’s things like this that make all the hard times worthwhile. Thank you for sharing these precious moments with us. P.S. I live in Oregon too – Medford. Have a daughter and family that live in Salem.

    Hi Ali,

So glad you have these happy moments to remind you how good life is every day :)

I too was able to appreciate a short visit with my Mom on Mother’s Day. She was working so I surprised her on a quick break… seems so much more special to me each year I get older – she’s never been very healthy, so I know how lucky I am… so many blessings, your children are lovely, glad you felt loved too :)

I agree those notes from the kids are PRICELESS. My 6 year old says “I love my mum because she loves me”….. truely that says it all and my 8 year old had 7 boxes starting off typed words like “My mum wears” and the kids had to fill in the rest and do a picture….the things he said to me mean more to me than any present could. This year I just gave them both $10 to spend at the School Mother’s Day Stall and their pictures and words were AMAZING…..they are treasures.

Those heartfelt words are the best! My son loves to cuddle and hug, too, and he’s so good at it! It’s really a wonderful time! (I honestly think it’s partly that those on the spectrum like pressure – like being buried under tons of blankets – but it’s such a positive, relaxed time!)

Don’t know if you read all the comments or not, but I just wanted to say that you have handled your adversity with tremendous grace. I know what you’ve gone through, its not fun for anyone. But we all make a choice – to handle it with grace or to display bitterness. You have made a wise choice.

That is so sweet. I got notes in my bag I carry to work. 3 actually. I have some little lunch box notes for my daughter. I saw her going through them on Mother’s Day morning. She picked out some and added to what was already on them then she put them in my bag to find at work.
