Project Life 2012 | Week Seventeen (Week In The Life)
Welcome to Project Life 2012 | Week Seventeen.
Here's what I ended up doing in my Project Life album during Week In The Life - it's pretty darn simple - consisting of one of Anna's large paintings from school and a series of shots of me in just about the same spot on six of the seven days of the week.
There were so many different ways I could have gone with this. I considered just collecting "stuff" throughout the week and having a "stuff-only" week (like receipts, notes, packaging, etc). I considered all photos - using some of the extras I didn't plan to use in my Week In The Life album. I considered picking my favorite photos from each day and highlighting them here. I considered doing two photo enlargements (or maybe even one that's a 24x12 photo) highlighting my two favorite photos from the week.
In the end I went with a piece of art and a series of photos.
I started with this painting that Anna brought home from school (titled "a tea pot"):
I cut it down to 12x12:
And then cut it into 4x6 and 3x4 shapes:
On the other side I printed out the six photos I had of myself sitting at the table (+ one where I'm sitting on a couch). I didn't take one of these shots of Saturday so I didn't have to deal with having seven photos instead of six (these are the kinds of things I don't worry about at all):
Before printing each photo I added a digital circle element from my Circles Of Life set.
I went back and forth a bit about whether I wanted to keep these two pages separate or to combine the two. I liked it both ways. Here's a look at it another way:
This is how it is in my album right now and I'll leave it that way for now (but might change it back if I opened it up in a few months and it feels strange to be spread out).
Did you do both Week In The Life and Project Life? I'd love to see what you did if you did them separately.
This is the last spread in my first album for 2012. Last year I had three total and I imagine I'll have that same number again this year.

Hi Ali - I used your templates for Week in the Life and put then inside week 17 in my PL binder. I used the left side of PL for an intro to WITLand then right side for a big photo and a piece of my son's artwork. I have blogged it here:

Love what you have done with Anna's art and your photos.

I love what you've done with Anna's artwork!
I've gotta try something similar! I assume she was cool with the cutting up part. My littles have trouble parting with stuff! I'm thinking scanning could solve that!

I kind of like it seperate: Mom at work, daughter at work simultaneously!

Hi Ali, wow wow wow, you are so clever, this just looks AWESOME, looks like Anna is going to take after her mum, l think both spreads look great, but l prefer Annas teapot page by itself, love that you can change it up the way you want to.thanks again for being so inspiring

How fun this spread is, love that you have all these photos of you, the kids will like that I think. How sweet that you have Anna's artwork and love the way you cut it up to fit. I like that you have options on how to do this weeks, both look good to me.
Thanks for sharing that you had many ideas on what to do with PL that week. Same goes for me, I even had the paper idea and the favorite pic for each day. In the end I went with a mini collage for each day and did the journaling to go with each picture.
Now seeing your idea here though mine could have been the picture of the front yard or the sunset each night, those were two things I made sure to do each day. I will try to do this for another week this year I think, thanks for the idea.
Here is how I did my PL spread that week

Waow! I really like what you did for week 17. I was wondering how you would integrate WITL in your project life, and I simply love your idea! Bravo Ali!

I love the spread out version, but the other is just as nice too. I still wasn't brave enough to do WITL but have enjoyed following those who have. Next time, I will play along. :)

Hi Ali,
What awesome simplicity! I'm new to PL this year and just about filled my first album too! I was wondering - what will you do for the back page of your first album?
I don't really have any plans right now (last year I just left it blank). I like what Elise did: http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/golden/2012/05/project-life-end-title-page.html

I never thought about cutting up a larger picture (item) to put it in the pockets! Thanks for that tip! Awesome spread!

Ali, what are you doing with that very back page of the page protectors? I also ended my first album with this week. Thinking about just getting a 12x12 patterened paper, cutting, and putting it back there. Any thoughts?
I haven't done anything yet - I don't think I ever did anything with my 2011 album either. Check out what Elise did - looks lovely: http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/golden/2012/05/project-life-end-title-page.html

I'm putting my week in life into my PL album as the entry for that week - double spread A4 for each day printed and put into A4 page protectors.
Love what you did - thinking of doing the 'me at my table each day' one week soon

A little off topic, but have you considered doing some digital travel overlays like the week in the life? They would be awesome for scrapbooking on the road, etc.
Thanks Ali for all your inspiration.

Cool spread. For my WITL I put it all in my Project Life Album for that week with an additional 12X6 insert page. It turned out really nice. Sorry I don't have pictures.

I really like what you've done with your spread for the week. I was wondering how people would do both project life and week in the life, and I've seen yours and Elise's and the ones in the comments. I really like looking at them!
I think it's so cool that you got photos of you at the table most days as well, and even better that you used them together on a spread that has much more impact than if you had one a day through the week in the life pages!
