AE | The Weekend Lens

We spent the weekend at one of our favorite places on the Oregon coast with my parents.

On both Saturday and Sunday we spent a couple hours actually down on the beach. We don't always go down there, usually it depends on the weather. This weekend was a mix of sun and clouds and mist.

Don't be fooled by these photos or the kids in the water. It was about 60 degrees tops and the water is cold.

One of the overwhelming themes was just how much Simon loves being at the beach.

He's so free there. To explore. To run. To play.

There's more room to give him room.

He's so happy there.

He's been going to this same beach for his entire life and it's such a huge part of his story, along with so much time spent with my Mom and Dad.

I love that Anna's getting to experience it (and enjoy it) now too.

Love this shot. I love it because it shows the whole scene.

On Sunday it was a bit sunnier:

Anna wore some wings down to the beach that made for fun photos.

A person who frequents the beach likes to stack rocks like this set. And talk about a moment of intense blue sky.

I need to do a layout or minibook that shows photos of Simon on this beach throughout his life so far.

So many adventures.

Photos taken by both me and my Mom. I shot only with my iphone this time.

Oh my goodness Ali, these are soooo precious. I love your beach pictures everytime you visit your parents. They are just gorgeous! How sweet is that last one, too cute!!

My favorite pictures of Simon are always from the beach, you can tell how happy he is. Even on the regular outside photos he's happy but the beach makes his whole face light up.

Yes, you should make a mini album of his beach visits, would be so awesome for him to look back on.

Can't believe they are in the freezing cold water, how brave they are, lol

Happy all of you had a super fun weekend!!

These are fantastic. Specifically I love the wings. My daughter has several pairs of wings. Between that and the tutus....she's covered. The photo of the rocks would totally fit my OLW -- balance. :-) And finally, that last shot. Too. Perfect.

    THose are incredible iphone shots!

Being that he's so use to cold beaches I wonder how Simon would react to a florida beach? I bet it would be a shock!

Love your photos, thank you for sharing with us. My 14 yr old daughter is a huge beach lover - it's a place she can just be herself, no pressures, enjoy nature, be silly and if it makes sense "go unnoticed" from a society that isn't always as kind to her as it should be. I thank God to be able to also experience the beach regularly with her, and I hope this will be a lifetime love for your family and mine!

I love Simon's pirate hat! Of course, Anna's wings are wonderful, too, but being a mother of two sons, I love the boy stuff! (Can I borrow Simon for a day or two? My sons are 19 and 23, striking out on their own, and I miss the little boy fun. But on the other hand, I wouldn't have it any other way for my two sons.)

Luck? I think by tapping on the phone to focus on one of their bodies.
