Project Life 2012 | Week Thirty-Two

Welcome to Project Life 2012 | Week Thirty-Two.

Today I thought I'd share a bit more detail about how I approached our week of camping in this album. This is my general approach for tackling weeks when I didn't document as we experienced the week (meaning I didn't take notes or collect stuff other than images).

Here's a look at how I completed this week:

STEP ONE | Choose photos, print (I use a Epson PictureMate Show here at home and I LOVE it), round corners and place in the pockets. I did all 4x6 and one 3x4. At this point I decide if I want to add a divided page protector insert to accommodate additional photos. I don't spend a ton of time going through my photos or a ton of time editing. I look for a combination of pictures that tells the most complete story or really emphasizes what it is that I want to share. Some weeks I add text or word art from my collection at Designer Digitals in Photoshop before printing.

STEP TWO | Words. This week I decided to simply add in short memories/phrases or even just a word about things I remembered on each day. Sometimes I add the stories directly to the photos in Photoshop like I mentioned above and other times I use journal cards. This week I used some of my new Hello Days Story Cards for Technique Tuesday.

STEP THREE | Embellish. Add stuff to photos - for me that's usually banners, word stickers, small tags. Stamp or write on photos. This week I decided to add a number stamp + a word or two to each photo as a series. I stamped on my photos this week using Black Staz On and Frost White Pigment Ink from ColorBox.

Here's a look at the completed pages for Week Thirty-Two:

This week, design-wise, was a lot of play with consistency. I repeated the Hello Days story cards + the Prima alphabet stamps + the Lawn Fawn number stamps over and over.

The red letter stickers stitched to the top photo and the journal card are Crate Paper Little Boy Blue Red Doll Flocked Thicker Stickers.

Those Prima alphabet stamps actually fit into a holder (the Prima Press holder) so you can set up a word or phrase and stamp it a few times all at once. I don't have that piece yet but really loved even just using the little stamps on their own. It felt old school using little stamps (in the best possible way).

I included two 6x12, 3-pocket inserts this week.

I used the Silhouette Cameo to cut a Summer Sentiment 4x6 Box using yellow cardstock and added a Basic Grey Cottage Pennant Flag. Learn how to cut my digital files with your Silhouette here.

The white ink I used is Frost White Pigment Ink from ColorBox. You do need to let it dry before sticking it inside the page protectors (not too long) - worked awesome.

Under the white stamped number is an Elle's Studio Summer Lovin' Pennants. I saw yesterday that there's a bunch of new Elle's Studio now available at Two Peas.

The green phrase sticker is from October Afternoon Woodland Park Stickers (I also used one from there on the title card for the week).

Used that white ink again on the last photo. I need to remember I have that ink - love the look with the stamps.

I have been enjoying your blog. I love Project Life, but didn't think I would ever do it. Since I am a newbie at scrapping, I now feel it might be the best way to scrap 20+ years of photos of my kids' lives before I forget the memories.

Great that your holiday went straight into PL. I did the same this year, ending up using about a spread for each day!

Awesome pages. Wondering of your story cards ate physical cards that get mailed to me or a digi file that gets emailed.

I love the way you pulled this week together. I've been documenting my process for working on PL and have found that it has helped me narrow down what works best for getting it done and what wastes time.

This weeks layout is awesome! I love the days of the week cards you've used... I still love documenting the days of the week in that way, and they look awesome on there! I also like that you've spiced it up with the Hello Camp one too... It fits with it so well! Thanks for sharing a walk through on how you work on your pages!

I've noticed you use both your Epson PictureMate Show and your large format printer. Which one do you like better?

Absolutely time for me to start a project life. I'm at a place where for all the looking and loving on your weekly updates, I need to start capturing bits of my own life at this point in time.

I really appreciate how committed you are to this project. Weekly inspiration to just get on it already.

[...] These are awesome for adding to Project Life (love them especially cut with the Silhouette), printed on cardstock as journaling cards or added on top of a photo as a digital brush. See the full post about that week in Project Life here. [...]
