Project Life 2012 | Week Forty & Forty-One

Welcome to Project Life 2012 | Week Forty & Week Forty-One.

This week includes a bit of life at home and a bit of life on the road in Ireland.

Rather than include lots of my Ireland photos I just added a few - knowing that I'll be doing an album featuring more of them (and more of the story). I felt like it was enough to show what was happening without duplicating all the details.

I also find that when I'm in a hurry to just get stuff in the pockets simply adding text to the photos is an easy path forward (vs. messing around with adding lots of other embellishments or handwritten journaling).

The "Hello Everyday Life" 3x4 card is part of a free download you can access on Becky's site here.

"Hello Glorious Day" is from my new set of 3x4 cards: Awesome Story. I printed both cards on photo paper.

Word stickers are from Heidi Swapp: Definition Stickers and Sentiment Stickers.

For Week Forty-One, where I was traveling the entire week, I decided to just go with two full page enlargements (again because the details of the trip will be documented in a mini-album).

These two 12x12 photos came from my iphone. Amazing that they can be blown up this big and still be decent quality. Love that. I printed them here at home using the Epson R2000 and 13x19 photo paper.

One thing I really wanted to show here was the contrast between the city and the county - the man-made and the natural. It was definitely an intentional choice in going with these two photos.

I added one small embellishment (and a date stamp to show the week) - a printed travel quote from this digital set: Travel Quote Strips.

For this embellishment I just re-colored it in Photoshop, printed on photo paper, cut around the edge and stapled in place.

You can learn more about working with my digital products in my free series of posts here.

I absolutely love how week 41 ended up being so simple yet a huge impact. hope you'll share your ireland travel album. my husband and i were invited to join my mom, brother, and sisters to ireland this past september but we opted to send our twin 14-year olds on a mission trip to Ecuador instead. My sister (who took the most photos) came back with some amazing views of Ireland. No regrets about not going but wow - simply beautiful.

Great choice to send your children on that trip. I've been to El Salvador twice, as a college student, on Spring Break where my delegation lived with the families and worked alongside them to help build a playground and community center for the village. One of the most important lessons and memories of my lifetime. And, I went in 1998 and again in 1999. My university, Sacred Heart University, just celebrated 20 years of service in El Salvador.

The 2 blown up photos frommyour iphone........did you save them a certain way before printing? or were you able to just use the phot from your phone without any manipulation? I love that ONE (or TWO) photos can express a whole week. Think I'll have to try this.....:)

Your two photo layouts for week 41 are amazing! Love the idea of including pics of a trip although making a mini book with details and more pics. Once again you have given me another fabulous idea to try in my PL album. THanks for sharing!

Why did you decided to cut it into the segments instead of just using a 12x12 photo in a page protector? Just wondering?

I totally could have done that too - but I wanted to keep the flow of the album using the backs and fronts of the regular style page protectors I use as the base of this album (vs. including an insert and still having more pockets to fill).

Wow, I just realized that the year is almost over - week 41 already! Amazing layouts and I really love the way you cut up the 12x12 photos. Beautiful photos.
I'd love to go on one of these trips, but I don't think Asia is the trip for me, maybe the next one.

Hi Ali, I am looking to start PL in 2013...your pages are such a huge inspiration. I have never even scrapbooked in my entire life but wanted something to document memories physically...hence starting with PL in 2013...Love what you do with your project.
