Gift Suggestion 2012 | Kiwi Crate Crafty Christmas

Over the next few weeks I'll be periodically sharing gift suggestions for memory keepers (photographers, scrapbookers, crafters, etc). Today I'm starting with something that's great for kids.

Earlier this year I wrote about Kiwi Crate and have totally become a fan. I love gifts that encourage creativity and self-expression. This holiday season they've got three specialty boxes available (not included in the monthly kit): Handmade Hanukkah, Gifts Made By Me and Crafty Christmas. I went with Crafty Christmas for Anna.

When my sister and niece were here last week the crate arrived while Anna was at school. Gabrielle helped Katie and I open it up to check out the fun contents - we'll be waiting until December to actually work on the crafts (will likely use it as an Advent activity).

This crate includes all the materials kids need to make festive decorations for the holidays:

  • Paint Swirl Ornaments–Kids swirl paints and create a set of 3 one-of-a-kind ornaments. These beautiful baubles are topped with a bow and a pipe cleaner hook—perfect for trimming the tree.

  • Gingerbread House–Kids create a wintery home and snowy scene, without the sticky mess (and sugary high) of a traditional gingerbread house. This project includes sturdy cardboard cut-outs, ribbons, pom-poms, tissue paper, and more. Inspiration cards are included, and creativity is encouraged.

Price: $19.95

Check out their other specialty boxes: Handmade Hanukkah, Gifts Made By Me

Gift subscriptions are available if you're a grandparent, aunt/uncle, friend, etc.

Information on their monthly subscription crates can be found here.

I love Kiwi Crate. I have 2 grandkids ages 2 and 4. This is perfect for the 4 year old, I got a gift membership and as the crates come we can do them or I stash them for a day when we need something crafty to do. I got the add on because of the 2 year old and it is great. It doubles the contents so he can do his won. He always has to do whet sister does so it works out well! I love this company!

What a wonderful idea AND not to terribly expensive. My kids are all grown up, but I will certainly pass this on to my friends with smaller children. Awesome idea!!!

I love this kit and the whole Kiwi Crate concept. In the future please can you be clear when you promote products if you have an affiliation with the company (ie if they sponsor you, if they give you free product, if you have any other interest), and also be clear if you are recommending simply cos you like the product but have no affiliation whatsoever. That would just be good practice. thanks

What a great gift idea! I ordered two Crafty Christmas kits to take with me to our Thanksgiving Dinner at dd's home. Each family can have their own Gingerbread house, to be worked on if the kids get bored after dinner, or they can make them in their own homes. I wish I'd seen this earlier to save on the shipping.
Thanks for the wonderful suggestion Ali, I'll be checking out your future ones early!
