Special Weekday Giveaway | eMeals Subscription

GIVEAWAY | One person will receive a 3-month subscription to eMeals. To be entered into this giveaway please leave a comment below answering this question: if you tried eMeals, what plan would you try?

I like simple. I like healthy. I like routine. Any time I can find a combination of those three things I get really excited.

eMeals recently contacted me and asked if I'd be interested in testing out their monthly meal planning service.

Figuring out what to eat and feed my family has always been my responsibility. I've written in the past about the challenges we've faced with Simon's eating habits (super picky, texture aversions, etc). Often times it has just been easier to feed him his preferred foods vs. planning something that leads to a ton of resistance. So much of that depends on my own personal mental health and patience level - because, you know what, sometimes it's just really hard. I'm also well aware, through years of experience now, that encouraging both my kids to try new foods is a good thing (and usually worth the time we sit at the table) and that by continuing to introduce new foods it is actually widening the things they eat.

Simon's been doing pretty darn good these days trying new foods and/or eating non-preferred foods (especially compared to a few years ago). I want to keep encouraging him and modeling good healthy eating habits. Having a favorite treat at the end of the meal as something to work towards doesn't hurt either.

All of that lead me to saying yes to eMeals.

I chose the Natural & Organic Family Plan and each week I get an email that includes 7 dinners (main dish + side) with ingredients and instructions, and a grocery shopping list. I'm loving having a list of pre-planned options each week and I love that someone is doing the work for me. I don't always stick exactly with the meals on the list but I love having it there as a jumping off point. So far it's been relatively successful - I've been picking a couple meals a week to try and having other nights be some of the Simon's preferred meals (grilled cheese, bean & cheese burritos, cheese pizza, baked potato, etc). The meals are simple and healthy and don't involve a ton of work or prep and I love knowing what we are eating before 5pm.

I'm still using the weekly menu plan I designed so Simon can read what's on the menu each night - you can download the PDF for free here.

eMeals is definitely helping me to expand our meal choices and simplifythe process by taking care of the planning and grocery list.

I think this would make a great gift for someone (at least it's the kind of gift I'd love to receive - something that keeps on giving throughout the year). 3 months is $21, 6 months is $35, or 12 months is $58.

Here's how it works:

  • Pick Your Plan | To start getting eMeals, just choose a meal plan based on your eating style, your family size and even your favorite grocery store.

  • Get Great Recipes | Every week, your meal plan arrives in your inbox —complete with seven simple, creative, family–friendly dinner recipes. Each includes an entrée and side dishes.

  • Shop and Save | Along with the meal plan, you'll receive a detailed grocery list organized by section and coordinated with the weekly sales at selected stores.

  • Relax and Enjoy | We take care of the meal planning, the grocery list and the budgeting — while you take credit for making healthy, home–cooked meals that your whole family will love.

I'm intrigued by the Paleo plan. My husband eats Paleo now so this would be a way for my daughter and I to eat the same food as he does.

Ali: This is amazing! I would try either clean and simple or portion control. Since becoming empty nesters, I have not enjoyed cooking for 2 as much as I enjoyed cooking for 5. This might be the answer I have been looking for....Thanks for the opportunity to give it a try!

Wow! What a great idea. I would choose gluten free as I am struggling to create simple meals that don't make me sick; literally. Instead, I spend TONS of money at natural food stores buying frozen gluten free meals. ewww. Thanks, Ali!!

Classic would be the easiest, I'd challange Emeals to find a plan for my family. I have 3 kids, #1 is strictly meat and potatoes and does not like chicken or pork. #2 is a vegetarian, #3 has aspbergers, is very picky and has texture issues. I'm not sure Emeals could help us.
