December Daily™ 2012 | Day Eight

Had a little gathering of friends here last night - so fun to be celebrate the season with laughter and friendship.

Quick note to let you know that my 2013 One Little Word workshop is now open for registration. I'm mixing it up this year with new monthly creative prompts (+ a few that are the same as 2011 and 2012) to help us all make our words more visible in our lives. More information and registration available here.

Here's a look at my spread for Day Eight:

I stared off knowing I wanted to use three photos and that I'd be working with the back of the enlarged photo I included for Day Seven.

I decided to use one behind a 4x6 Overlay, one would be printed the same size as the background from Day Seven and the third would be the same height but a smaller width and I would score it to be able to open like a flap.

As I was looking through stuff I collected yesterday I saw the Starbucks wrap and thought that would make a cool addition to the shorter photo (I think I've included one of these just about every year). I stitched it to the photo using silver thread.

Inside the flap I included some pattern paper from the December Daily™ kit + a cork star (from Close To My Heart) stitched with the same silver thread.

For the second page of the spread I added a 4x6 overlay on top of a photo and added my journaling before printing.

Inside the album.

I really like how this one turned out - especially the combination of one side in a page protector and the other outside.

I don't understand how you put together the two photos to open like a flap - how did you attach them to each other? Could you explain the logistics a bit more? I think that is an idea I would like to use in my album.

Hi Jennifer. I used a scoring tool to create a "line" about .5 inches in from the left edge of the photo - that allows the photo to flip up. I placed rolling adhesive on the underside (within that .5 inch strip I created with the scoring tool) and adhered it right onto the larger photo.

I read where you were talking about "day seven" and thought that was a typo. How did we get so far into December already?!
Love the fun you have with this album. Mine is turning out to be very simple.

Ali, I love what you did for your spread! I will try it too. BTW my favorite item @ SB is their Birthday Cake Pops. I don't drink coffee either, a friend took me. Ack in August and she told me to try the Cake Pops! I was hooked. The clerks always give me funny looks and comments when no coffee is ordered! Might need to order coffee tomorrow so that I can get the cute little sleeve! You look amazing!
