December Daily™ 2012 | Saying Hello & Looking Back & Looking Ahead

A very big welcome to December Daily™ 2012.

Today is the day I begin and I'm super excited.

As I get ready to start documenting December today (I'll post my Day One page tomorrow morning), I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the stories I've told over the last five years (check out my main December Daily™ page with links to all my past albums here). Here's an accounting (thanks Katie) of the stories I've told and how many years I've told them:

As you can see, I use a lot of the same topics each year (I'm a fan of repetition). I also include everyday stories alongside holiday ones. There is no right or wrong way to approach this project.

My biggest piece of advice this year: HAVE FUN. That's it. This isn't a race or a competition or anything of the sort. Keep it real for you and those who are most important to you. Let it enhance your spirit this season.

Woo hoo!!! The start is finally here! I've got two huge events to include: step-daughter's choir club is singing at a local bookstore, and then my younger son's school play is tonight. Love, love, love this project.

Thanks Ali for making it real for all of us!!!

Thank you for this list Ali. I haven't had a lot of success with daily projects because I always get behind by one day and then it derails my whole project. This year I am letting myself tell the stories on different days than they happen. Also, with work and school we have some days that are SO full of things I want to document and others not so much. I was going to make a list of stories I think I can cover - your list has many of those things on it and is a great reminder!!!

    Love your 6x8 overlays!
Is there a blank pdf in the 6x8 set, with no date on it, like the one in the 4x6 set, where you stamped in the numbers? I can't seem to find it.
    Thanks!

I'm 5 days in... and looking to join in... I have never completed an online class or project (indlucing the 31 things class earlier this year.) and one of my "intentions" for the new year is to complete projects and stop getting so uptight about it being perfect!
That being said, I am wanting to do this all digital and have a book printed through... somewhere... I'm well versed in Photoshop, but not sure where to start with this... ergh.

I love this! I love that you (and Katie) tallied up the themes/stories you've included! I look forward to your December Daily every year and I don't actually participate which probably makes my enjoyment of it super weird but I just love the idea of it and the albums you make so much! :D

Dear Ali, my favourite Christmas story of yours was when you took Simon on the Polar Express. As a SAHM in Australia with a boy the same age, I just couldn't fathom a landscape where such a thing could happen. Some of our family traditions have come from you like new pjs for Santa. Thanks for the memories.
