One Little Word 2013 | Workshop Open For Registration

One Little Word, a 12-month prompt-based creative workshop, is now available for registration at Big Picture Classes.

Each month you'll receive an email and an invitation to visit the One Little Word classroom. Inside the classroom, you'll find a gentle reminder message, encouragement to refocus, and a simple creative or writing project to complete related to your word. At the end of the year you'll have an album that celebrates and honors your word—making it that much more concrete and visible in your life.

For 2013 I will be introducing new prompts, along with a few favorites from previous years. The emphasis will continue to be, as it has been in past years, on finding ways to make our words visible in our lives.

Here's a look at some of the prompts from the workshop in 2011 and 2012 - as you'll see it's been a combination of writing, photography and craft:

I'm happy to answer and questions that you might have here in the comments.

I'll be sharing my word for 2013 the week between Christmas and New Year's.

For more information on the One Little Word workshop or to register go here.

Hey Ali - If you have purchased the class in previous years will you be able to retake them this year or will you need to repurchase the class again?

You do have to buy it again - as Ali does all new videos and downloads, but you should get an email soon about a freebie for past students. :)

I have never taken a class but never had the extra funds to do so..I have always done a One Little Word layout and remind myself throughout the year of my word. I love how one word can change the outlook of your day!

I ALREADY signed up. :) I absolutely love this class ... and just as a small thank you - thank you for keeping the price the same, I went to order some stuff off of Amazon {that I order every year} and the price had gone up = I KNOW, I GET IT ... things get more expensive - but it was a happy moment to see the same price. :)

So excited and grateful that you are offering this class again. My word hit me square in the face about a month and a half ago at an event I was attending called Time Out For Women. Can't wait to listen and learn from you during 2013.

    Hi Ali:
I want to purchase this class for a family member; Christmas surprise for someone who definitely needs the inspiration you can provide. How do I checkout? With my e-mail address or theirs?
    Thanks!

Hi Jill - I think the best way is purchase a gift certificate. I'll check with Big Picture.

I don't scrapbook anymore but I've done the OLW for the last few years. I went ahead and signed up for the class with plans to photograph, journal, and blog only. No pages for me!

Is this a digital scrapbooking and journal class? Or can it be geared to traditional scrapbooking? I would love to start doing digital scrapbooks but have no idea where to start.

Hi Angie - you can approach it any way you want. The last two years I've provided printable materials that people can either add their own hand-writing to or can use a computer to input their writing. As you can see in the images above I printed things out and added my writing -

I think I am going to do the workshop this year. I usually choose a word, then forget wbout it lol. This will help me continually refocus. A word came to me and then I noticed it is a word you have used :)

When we register for the new class, will BPC recognize that we took the class in the past to allow us to get the freebie that is offered for past participants? Thanks, Ali!

Hi Kim - I believe that you need the code that was included in the email to alumni (looks like you need to do a separate transaction for that one with the code for the freebie).

Ali, Do you provide prompts, suggested ideas on how to find your "word"? I'm afraid that there are so many swirling in my head that one won't come forward. Or the one that I pick will not be conducive to the class.

Hi Kathy - this class is less about finding your word and more about what to do with it once you have one. You might want to check out my archive of past One Little Word posts: http://aliedwards.com/blog/one-little-word. There's really no right or wrong word - and no word that really fits better for the class than another. On any given year there's been a number of words that have come up for me - a number that I could have chosen. I usually just grab hold of one and go for it.
