One Little Word 2013 | Workshop Open For Registration
One Little Word, a 12-month prompt-based creative workshop, is now available for registration at Big Picture Classes.
Each month you'll receive an email and an invitation to visit the One Little Word classroom. Inside the classroom, you'll find a gentle reminder message, encouragement to refocus, and a simple creative or writing project to complete related to your word. At the end of the year you'll have an album that celebrates and honors your word—making it that much more concrete and visible in your life.
For 2013 I will be introducing new prompts, along with a few favorites from previous years. The emphasis will continue to be, as it has been in past years, on finding ways to make our words visible in our lives.
Here's a look at some of the prompts from the workshop in 2011 and 2012 - as you'll see it's been a combination of writing, photography and craft:
I'm happy to answer and questions that you might have here in the comments.
I'll be sharing my word for 2013 the week between Christmas and New Year's.

I've just signed up and I am really looking forward to starting this process. As for my word, well, it kind of chose me. I had 3 or 4 words swimming around in my head but this one kept popping up again and again. Although I didn't like it at first, it wouldn't go away and now I have embraced it and it makes perfect sense. See you in the classroom everyone!

I would like to sign for the classes, but I am a bit confused. As I am on the other side of the globe, I would need to find the supply list items in the local market. If you could just briefly describe the things that are required, I can try to get something similar. Thanks
Hi Nupur - you basically need a 9-pocket divided page protector (as seen in the images above) and an 8.5x11 notebook. You could definitely do a different size if you wanted but the printables included in the class will be geared to the 8.5x11 size.

I can't wait to start. I've been thinking (and wishing to achieve my word consistently) and I think this is the perfect way to do it... a monthly reminder!

Hi Ali, in the last six months, I have realised that I need to bring more focus into my life. I keep flitting from one thing to another without really committing completely and whole-heartedly. Amongst other things, I am planning on registering for this workshop to bring some focus and direction into my daily life. Divided page protectors are not available in my part of the world. I would love to do this in the physical form but I think the lack of supplies might push me to do this digitally. And mind you, I have never scrapbooked (traditional or digital) ever before. :) I am still thinking this over... would love to know if you think this can be completely adaptable for a digital version?
There have been quite a few people over the last couple of years do it all digital. It's really up to you - you can make it what you want it to be. In general I include digital elements when possible -

Hi Ali! This is a great idea and I have an idea in my head for my word but was wondering if this is something that could easily be incorporated into a PL album rather than a whole album?
Thanks!

Seeing what your word was for last year, I'm assuming you know that your name "Ali" is Aribic for "up" or "high"... Great word! Great movie! Wish I heard of your class sooner, would have loved to have seen all your ideas... So thankful for the timing of this NOW ... Perfect for this season of my life!
I totally did not know that :).

My girlfriend and I just signed-up and purchased our stuff. We are both really excited to be starting this project and seeing where it will take us. Can't wait for our first prompt!

I am not a scrapbooker. WIll this class still be appropriate for photos and writing, or are scrapbook skills neccesary?

Hi Ali,
I signed up for OLW in 2012 and ended up falling away from the class (I had another baby, so I was distracted :)) I went back in big picture classes and looked under "My Classes" to see if the prompts were still there and they weren't :( I also went through my email archives and I have no emails in regards to OLW. I know it is late now, but can the 2012 classroom and printables still be accessed or is it too late??
Also cannot wait to start 2013 and stick with it this year!!
Jamie - Big Picture Classes are always available. The classroom should still be accessible under your Classes and the prompts and all the downloads are under the Archives section.
