How Do You Read Blogs?

Have you read the news that Google Reader is going away?

Which leads me to my next question...

How do you read blogs these days?

Via a reader? Via email? Via bookmarks?

I've been using Feedly for a bit now and love the clean streamlined design plus it looks great on my ipad which is where I tend to read blogs the most (thanks to Peppermint for the tip on that one a few months back). I also just have a set of bookmarks in Firefox toolbar that includes blogs I like to visit from time to time. I do have a couple blogs I subscribe to via email that I really don't want to miss.

I love feedly. I used to use the google reader with the next button set up in my toolbar under different categories, which was really neat, but I made the switch to Feedly as soon as Google announced they were retiring the reader...and I love it. The phone app is really good too.

I love google reader, so I switched to feedly. I tried a bunch of other readers since the news, and feedly works best so far.

I also tend to use pinterest to find blogs to check into as well.

I subscribe to some, but I tend to never read those. Feedly is working the best so far, and it was easy to import google reader into it.

I actually just blogged a Feedly overview this week on my blog! :) I love it. I've tried Feedly, The Old Reader, and Bloglovin, and Feedly is by far my favorite.

i'm sad about google reader and have been looking for another reader as well. i'm trying bloglovin and feedly but they don't have the intuitive interface that i'm used to. i may look at pulse, but for now i'm going to stay with 'the old reader'. it's interface is pretty much like google so i'm comfortable with it.

I'm trying these two as well. Gotta say, Bloglovin was an easy and smooth transition, Feedly has me stymied.

I love the RSS feeds because it is so easy to see who has new posts. My feed list is veeeery loooong and when life gets really busy I don't get to read them all. I always read several every single day...including yours of course.

I have bookmarks in Firefox on my laptop, and a couple come via email. I think I should check out Feedly; always up for something new.

I just switched over to Feedly myself thanks to recommendations from my friends. Love it so far, but miss how Google reader "learned" what my favorites were and had a separate link for those were. My absolute favs I'm also subscribed to via email.

I'm a little oldfashioned and still bookmark all the blogs I read. I really need to work out a reader to use that works well for me though, because it's hard when I go between computers that I don't use as regularly. I might have a look at some of the ideas being suggested here!

I use Flipboard on my iphone and ipad, love it! It is fed through Google Reader so I may have to look into something else down the line. I'm an old fashioned bookmark girl on my computer though.

I have used iGoogle for a long time and was very stressed that it is going away, along with reader. I found igHome which was created to mimic iGoogle and I really do like it. My reader is there and I can continue on in my happy way!

I'm trying out Feedly. I spent the better part of today importing and organizing my blogs. So far I really like it because I can check specific categories I created myself. I'm sure I could have done this with reader but I never took the time to check it out.

I was so sad to hear Google Reader was going away. I'm currently trying Bloglovin' and do like how it reads on my iPhone but will check out some of the above as it's a bit... chubby, less streamlined that I might prefer.

I am in complete denial about the pending demise of Reader... Complete denial. That being said - it is the primary way I read blogs. No fruitless visiting, reloading pages to se if updates are thre yet, no clogged email box: just everything neatly organized by category and easily starred/bookmarkable. Sigh.

Excited that you have brought this up so that I can tryout some of these. Definitely want something that I can read on my laptop and my iPhone with syncing capability betweeen the two. The option to see the blog "design" sounds cool from bloglovin, and I for sure want to be able to organize things by topic (food , photography, scrapbooking, science, yada yada...) which it sounds like feedly can do. Will also check out pulse and byline.

    Thanks to everyone for sharing!

oh! and by the way - all of you girls saying that you are "oldfashioned" and read blogs only right on the blog with bookmarks? *chuckle* I'm thinking that the use of a computer of any sort dissallows the use of the word! you are all awesome!

I use Reader and feed it to Flipboard to view the Blogs in a Magazine style. I love Flipboard, and must find a way to manage the blogs like Reader allowed me to do. I'll have to check out Feedly, but I must admit, I'm really sad Reader is going away! One thing I love about Flipboard is that one of my "magazines" is dedicated to Google Reader and then I have others (yours included Ali) that a set up that give me updates as soon as the site is updated. I love it.

I need to try feedly or reeder .... I honestly use facebook where I follow bloggers I like & follow the link if it pops up & is interesting & bloggers I am following closer or more frequently I tend to keep an open tab for them.... totally clutters up my internet though.

I'm using Netvibes, which is like Google Reader but isn't like Feedly in that it's not a browser extension.

Thank you so much for asking this question! I have learned so much from reading the comments that I simply would never have known were it not for your question. I have a list in blogger that I've been using, but I really wanted a way to read them on my Ipad, and Blogger wasn't doing that for me. Now I'm all set to go. Thanks so much!
