For The Love Of Sweet Lily Girl

Our sweet Lily girl passed away peacefully yesterday after an awesome last run on the beach she loved so much.

She was the most fabulous friend and we will miss her everyday. She had a wonderfully full life during her 12+ years with us. She especially loved going hunting with Chris or my Dad, running on the beach, and hanging out with me in my office.

She was my constant companion and was by my side during all the best and most challenging times. I had the thought today that maybe she stayed around (she was very sick in the summer of 2011 but pulled through) to be with me during the time I needed her most.

I am so thankful she was a part of my life.

Love you Lily girl. Thank you.

Oh Ali, I am so sorry. I can feel your grief because I, too, lost my dear old lab friend after 14 years. He, too, was with me through some very tough time, but always faithful and comforting. That was a couple years ago and I still miss him terribly. I'm keeping you and your family in my heart.

Oh Ali, the tears rolled down my face as I read this post. We are on the precipice of loosing our beloved girl and are heartbroken by the prospect. Every week with her now is a bonus. I really think you are right about hanging on to see you through dark days. My thoughts are with you all as I know she will be sadly missed.

My heart goes out to you and your family. It will be hard for awhile to come home and not have her their to greet you. Remembering the quote from Dr. Seuss helped me with loss - "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." take care, darla

Ali, I'm so sorry. I lost my little old man, Barkley, after fourteen years. He was one of the sweetest gentlemen I've ever known. After his death I was surprised when I would walk out my office and could hear him following behind! Or when I would walk into a room and could smell his doggy shampoo. Long term pets that live in our homes seem to be a little more "human" than can be explained. Be good to yourself, have ice cream. Again, so sorry, J

So sorry for your loss, Ali. Thank you for keeping your readers posted. So hard to lose our beloved pets, but I would much rather have them in my life for the short time they are here than not at all.

Oh Ali, so sorry to hear of Lily's passing. I never know what to say at times like these, so I tend to say nothing and decided that just wouldn't do!

It has to be hard to think of all the good times and love when you're already missing her so much. I agree with you that she pulled through to be there during your toughest stretch. She will be watching out for your still. Prayers to you and the kids and Chris and your Dad as all of you grieve. Love on each other. Peace and comfort to you.

Ali, my heart is heavy for you and the kids. It is hard to say goodbye to our amazing four-legged companions, who, at times, understand so much more than humans. Hoping the wonderful live and memories over the years with her bring you comfort.

We just lost our seat Gunner, a 12year old yellow lab. I know your sadness. There is a hole in my heart right now. I still come downstairs in the morning and expect to see him in the big chair, where he would watch my every move. The healing is slow sometimes.
    Thinking of you.
