Ali, Simon, and Anna, I'm so sorry for your loss. I think we all came to love your stories of Lily. We just adopted a border collie name Abby and it scares me sometimes how much I already love her. Our pets become so much apart of our family. I wish you and your family a time of healing and comforting memories.

My heart is breaking for you as I read this Ali! I have a black lab mix named Lily as well, and have often thought of your Lily when hanging out with mine.I know how much your Lily meant to you, but I am so very happy she passed on her own terms, peacefully, and that she lived a full life. How wonderful it will be to look back on all of the layouts, blog posts, and photos that you have documented of her life and of the integral role she played in the your lives. She will be missed but she will live on in your hearts and the pages of your albums! I know you will cherish the memories and the wonderful gift that she was. So very sorry again for your great loss.

I'm thinking of you and your family. Losing a dog is heart wrenching.

Lily knew you needed her that is why she stayed with you, I hope that you find healing and peace know that you and the kids will be ok and that Lily will always be by your side no matter how tough it gets.
My heart aches for you all but time with heal this heartache.

When I saw the picture of Sweet Lily peeking out of the top of my browser, I said to myself, "Oh no. Please, no." Then I read the title and knew.

I always wonder if our sweet doggie companions know the place they hold in our hearts. The difference they make in our lives.

I'm sitting here crying like a baby because it reminds me of when I lost my sweet Ellie girl. She was with me through some very tough times...

I totally believe that Lily pulled through in 2011 to be with you during the turbulent times the last two years brought you.

Many many hugs to you. I know that Lily is wagging her big strong tail and smiling down at you.

So very sorry to hear about Lily. Let yourself feel the sadness..the only way through it is through is. Things will get better....day by day. As you can see by all the emails many of us understand just how big the loss is.

I am sorry to read about Lily. You wrote beautifully about her and the photos are wonderful. Wishing you and your kids a peacefully healing.

I'm sorry for your loss Ali. I'm glad that Lily was there for you during a difficult time...I do believe animals are tuned into us more than we know sometimes. So glad she was able to enjoy the beach one last time. My thoughts are with all of you. RIP Lily.

ali, i am so sorry to read of the passing of lily. we lost our golden, benny this past fall. it broke all of our hearts. i still think of him everyday with a tear in my eye. a friend sent me a copy of the poem, the rainbow bridge, i bawled my eyes out but i hope it is true. wishing you peace.

Ali, so very sorry about Lily. As one of your blog followers who has also lost the precious companionship of a much loved pet who was really family, my heart goes out to you and your family. Awesome memories will always keep Lily close by, but the healing is slow.

I have Mocha, a chocolate lab who is 11. I dread the day she passes. She loves the beach too. Lily looks like she was a very well loved dog. So sorry for your loss.
