Summer Voices | Allison Waken

Allison Waken scrapbooking

We’re on summer holiday and we’ve invited some of our friends to share their voices and projects here over the next 2 weeks. Say hello to Allison Waken:

Hi everyone! Allison here while Ali and Katie are sipping espresso and chowing down a croissant in a cafe. Who else is super jealous?! Me! I can’t be too jealous though I’m still coming off of a beach vacation high!

Summer is my absolute favorite time of the year (yes even for someone who lives in Phoenix where it was recently right around 120F) and the beach is my favorite place. I’m happiest with my people at the beach. I sometimes get so caught up scrapping my kids (they are only little once right?!) but I’ve been trying to remember to get photos of myself and my husband as well. I know the kids will definitely want to see us and our relationship and how it changes (or doesn’t) over time. So this is your friendly reminder that if you have kids to NOT forget yourself and your relationships even if you think they are boring.
I love using Project Life or journaling cards for quick layered layouts. I tend to have journaling or filler cards laying around everywhere so this layout came together quick and easy! (The summer filler card is a free printable from my blog All for the Memories)

Mix and match 4×6 cards and 3×4′s and then throw in some scrap pages or 6×6″ pieces of patterned paper for a bit more size variance. I’ve been using my phone almost all the time for vacation photos lately so the 3×4″ photo was edited and printed directly from my iPhone. A few splatters of Mister Huey and stamps finished off this bit of my summer heaven.

ABOUT ALLISON | Allison Waken is a wife and mom to 2 boys (9 and 7) 2 dogs and a few creepy crawly pets. She lives in the desert of AZ and tries to travel to her family in Southern California often! She loves change and trying new things but it sometimes leaves her head swimming with ideas and to do lists. Allison loves photography, building LEGOS, traveling (who doesn’t) and the beach. Allison started scrapbooking as a child and while the reasoning is the same, her style is a bit different! She really loves the creativity and artistic side of the hobby. It is an amazing way to share our lives with our families!
