Project Life® 2013 | Week Thirty-Three

Welcome to Project Life® 2013 | Week Thirty-Three (August 12 - August 18).

I've got a bunch of weeks currently in progress as I get back into the groove after creating layouts for Hello Story.

I get a lot of satisfaction from this project. It continues to make me happy and is such a great way to capture little (and big) pieces of our lives.

Here's a look at Week Thirty-Three:

This was the week we returned from Paris. It was a lot about getting back into the swing of things after being gone for a couple weeks and included back to school clothes for both kids.

Word art on the top photo ("life adventures") is from my Yes Awesome brush set.

I also used a Sharpie a bunch again this week. Love that contrast in journaling between the thick and the thin pens.

Cut out a "new clothes" sentiment box with the Silhouette. You can find that file in this set: Back To School 4x6 Sentiment Boxes.

The new clothes actually got their own insert this week using the Small Variety Pack of Project Life page protectors.

I'm totally into putting word art right in the middle of my photos. This one is from this set: Back To School Line Stacks.

A look at the back of that insert. I included clothing tags in the top pockets.

It was still summer and our local outdoor pool was still open so I included a couple shots of the kids at the pool. A close up of Anna is paired with a far away of Simon which is representative of their swimming levels right now.

I still love what Elise said about designing Seafoam - that the bold fonts were meant to be paired with handwriting. Perfect match.

Thanks for sharing. I need to catch up!

This is a nice surprise (as you're on a trip). Always happy to see one of your PL pages, and even happier to read that you still love this project.

Do you add brushes/word art to your photos as you go? Or as you are working on said week of PL? I am always kinda messy with this. I'll look at a pic and either take it in a way that it has white space to add a brush to, or I'll think "that word art would look good on this". But then when I get down to working on the project, sometimes I forget, sometimes I printed the photo elsewhere and never included art. Apps are helping me with this, but I still am curious how you think of it?

I often print out a photo on the day I take it - sometimes I remember to add word art or I think of something really specific I want to add. Other times I print them all out at the end of the week - it often depends on how much time I want to take whether I add any word art. There have been lots of times when I wished I added something after but just left it and it was fine :).

Love this week's spread. Do you prefer those Souffle pens for writing on your photos vs. the Slick Writers? Thanks!

I'm interested in just a thin line white pen that works on photos and prefer not so paint-like material. I can't find thin white sharpies. Any suggestions?

Love the white souffle pen - that's really the only one I use and the rest are Precision Pens or Slick Writers.

I LOVE that you keep your Project Life so simple, but yet it never seems plain or boring. Thank you for the great ideas for what to put in the pockets... Clothing tags! Who would've thought?!

Year 2 for PL -- love it. Unfortunately my printer needs repair, so I'm using Persnickety Prints - their work is amazing! NOTE: They're having their semi-annual sale on 12x12, 8.5x11, and 8x8's: Sept. 28-30 -- 25% OFF. That's HUGE and perfect timing for printing Week in The Life (28 - 8.5x11's!!!). Thought I'd pass info about this great deal to you! (and, no, I don't work there. I'm just impressed with their quality & 25% off is great).

Hi Ali. I am always impressed by the number of casual and candid photo's you get to take of your children. The minute I bring my camera out (be it my SLR or iPhone), they either duck out of the way or become very aware that the camera is out and so the moment is lost. What is the secret????

Hmmm, not sure if it's a secret or not but I rarely say anything to them like, "look here" or "look at the camera." I'm quiet about it and it's so much a part of our life. I'm sneaky :).
