Week In The Life 2013 | Tuesday Words + Photos
NUMBER OF PHOTOS FOR TUESDAY | 68 (about half & half)
Today was a whirlwind that began a little before 6am and ended sometime after 10pm.
I chose this week because I knew it was going to mark the beginning of all kinds of new things for each of us. Anna at her new school. Simon starting middle school. Driving a whole lot more. Schedule adjustments. I knew I would be tired. And I am.
It was one of those days when I was reminded again and again how lucky I am that Katie is a part of our lives.
It was one of those days where I missed some photos in the evening. I attended events at Anna's school and the kids were hanging out with Katie and Peter. Katie took the last one shown below when I got home.
It was one of those days with bedtimes that kept extending into the evening. There were tears about a missing light saber and tears about Katie going home.
It was one of those days I wished things would slow down.
It was one of those days I negotiated and asked for help and said yes and said no and advocated for love and supported and felt supported.
Here's a look at our day:
Washing.
Selecting.
Dressing.
Reading.
Rinsing.
Anticipating.
Listening.
Humming.
Growing.
Comparing.
Showering at 2pm.
Breathing.
Calming.
Sharing.
Celebrating (first day at Middle School - 6th grade).
Choosing.
Praying.

Love your Tuesday's pictures and words! Nice to see Chris was there to celebrate with Simon too. I drive the kids to school now too, new for us and adjusting to it well so far.
I wish we could all have a Katie with us each day, she is the best. What a great mom she will be one day, she is learning so much already with your kids.
Hope you had a good night sleep Ali, breathe and enjoy this new day!

Loving participating. Finding new angles and perspectives. Giving my kids (one of them a crazy 2 year old) my prized new phone so I can be in more shots. Getting the tiredness too. Our weeks are so varied, it's fun to look at it this way.

Only a few photos here yesterday, but that's ok, lots of journaling captured - boy was it ever a day! Behind on uploading photos but that's ok too - it will get done and I won't remember looking back if I was "on time." Happy I am making this happen and unperfect does not = give up!! My sweet girl turning sweet 16 today! Good things happen every day, even on 9/11.

Congrats on Simon having a good day on his first day of middle school! I remember I was more stressed out than my son on his first day of middle school (my son has autism too). I even took the 1st day of school off from work, which I didn't do when both my kids started Kinder. I was told in my parent support group that middle school would be so much easier because our kids will love the strict schedule classes compared to elementary. Example - 1st period is always English, 2nd period is always Math, etc. I didn't believe it LOL and now it is so true! My son is now in 8th grade and he LOVES middle school. There definitely was some adjustments we needed to make but for the most part, he is very happy. Looking at your pictures reminding me how stressed out I was when I was in your place. You are an amazing mamma!

Beautifully captured. 2 photos that really caught my eye - the last one (kudos to Katie, what a sweet shot!) and the one of you, your son & his father. I grew up with divorced parents and having moments & photos of all is a treasure. It says a lot. Hope today goes well!

Tuesday left me tired as well, but I got a few photos in that I love. And I'm sure I wouldn't have taken them if it was not for this project. I'm few on words though, as I didn't write down anything, but I'll embrace that for what it is.

I think it's awesome that you chose to document such a BIG week, even though that means that it's even more exhausting for you. I think sometimes we forget to document some of the most important stuff because we're so busy. You rock!

I look at your photos first thing on the PC every morning -- gives me inspiration as to what to shoot for WITL. Thanks for that!

This is my first year doing WITL. I love it so far! I was curious what settings you use on your camera to get the evening shots (like the first one) mine don't seem to be as crisp as that... Or they seem to be yellowish from the lighting in my house.

One of the things I love about you is that you share the real picture of what life looks like and you encourage me to as well. A lot of my days look like the one you just described and I'm not afraid to document it because of you. Thank you for the vulnerability that requires. I just said a prayer that Wednesday will be a little less hectic for you :)

Beautifully captured. I am SO inspired by how well you and your ex-husband can interact. I know it can't be easy, but you both seem to be so mature in making things work for your children. If only every divorced couple could figure this out! You should write a book :)
