Project Life® 2013 | Week Thirty-Seven (Week In The Life)
Welcome to Project Life® 2013 | Week Thirty-Seven (September 9th - September 15th).
As many of you know last September I embarked on (and completed) my annual Week In The Life project. I document during the specific week - taking photos and writing stuff down - and then bring it all together in an 8.5x11 album usually the following week.
Because I've already done a whole album on this particular week I decided to play around a bit more with this week which to me means adding in more "filler" cards than I regularly use over the course of one week (usually there are more cards with words).
It felt super fun and freeing to not be thinking about the specific stories but instead just play with the colors and patterns. It's not what I want for this project every week but it was a great reminder that I can have variety within this project (which is especially helpful advice to myself as I work my way through the rest of 2013).
I love how this turned out.
I used the This Is Our Life 4x6 Journal Cards as the base for each day. This set (preview image shown below) includes a printable PDF that was specific to the 2013 dates for this project but it also includes layered PSD files that allow you to change the date and year using Photoshop to customize it for different dates throughout the year. You can learn more about working with layered PSD files in Photoshop here.
I could totally see using these again either as a whole week (love the consistent look with variety coming from the photos) or even for just a day as a stand-alone journal card.
This Is My Life 4x6 Journal Cards are also available for those of you who would like to center this project from "my" perspective vs. "our."
For this week I picked seven photos (one from each day) and cropped each one to 5.25 inches wide x 2.5 inches tall to fit within the journaling area of the cards.
I rounded one corner of each photo (the bottom left) and adhered the photos directly on to the journaling cards.
Here's a look at the right side:
And some close up images:
Title card pattern paper is from the Print Shop 6x6 paper pad. The pink labels were included in the Blue Note Scrapbook Kit from Studio Calico and the little blue plastic star was from this set of stars.
"Hello to the beauty of everyday life" is a 3x4 journal card from this set: Real Life Journal Cards. The "today" wood veneer frame is from Freckled Fawn (September Oh Deer Me Kit) and it's sitting on top of Remember This paper from Maggie Holmes.
"Embrace what is real" is also from that same Real Life Journal Cards set. It includes both a black and white PDF for easy printing and layered PSD files for those of you that might want to easily customize the colors or layer the words on top of photos.
The text pattern paper is from the Print Shop 6x6 paper pad and the foam "e" is from this set of letter stickers.
I loved revisiting this week again. Nothing extra special about it - just life.
On the second half of the spread I continued the same pattern with the journal cards + photos.
The "Hello" stamp and "i love you" 3x4 card are from the Marks & Company Studio Calico Project Life kit and I used Memento Teal Zeal ink.
That awesome dot pattern paper is from Allison Kreft for Websters pages and is called Recorded.
IDEA | Spread your journaling over a couple 3x4 cards using label stickers.

I love that ink. I'm crazy about teal. I'm paper crazy too and love seeing a peek at what others are using. Thanks. Michelle t.

Loved this idea, Ali! Will you be making a set of your This Is Our Life journal cards for 2014? I love them and went to use one for my 2014 Project Life album and then realized that they say 2013 on them! Thanks.
YES! I would love the 2014 printables. :)
They are layered PSD files so you can add in a new date.
That said I might make a new set that would just be printables with the 2014 date (and room to add-in stamp the actual month and day).
I second the request that you make the day in the life brushes for 2014 just like you did for the December Daily project. Love those!
I was just going to ask the same question! Thanks, Ali!
I always love how you put your weeks together. Thank you for the inspiration.

Loving how you spread the labels with journaling across three cards. Did you write first then cut? or cut and then write?
I cut and then wrote :).

I really like how you rounded the one corner on the journal cards. It's a small thing that really gives it an added little something!

Hi Ali, I especially enjoyed the links to all the different products you used for this week. Excited to seem more of this next year as you go through your stash for PL 2014. Happy Monday!

I love that you haven't finished last year's album. It helps to make me feel like not a total slacker. ;)

Great use of the "This is Our Life" overlays--too bad they only come with 2013. I know they are layered files--could you tell us the font used so we could replace the date? Some of us are not behind! :)
Hi Kary - I believe the year is Helvetica Neue and the typewriter date is Mom's Typewriter or Remington Noiseless.

Love the idea of spreading the journaling over two cards. Will be implementing that one in the future!

Do you have an idea when you will do week in the life in 2014?
Hi Megan - I don't yet. Still under discussion. Maybe May?

I love what you've done with this layout! The colours are great, and I love the focus on just one photo for each day, and how well they flow over the page by all matching. And the journalling split over multiple cards looks greats :)

How so you adhere the wood veneer to the paper?
