Project Life® 2014 | Title Page
I'm starting 2014 and working on 2013.
And I'm happy!
This project still has my heart. I love looking back through the albums. Right now as I work my way through the last couple of months of 2013 I'm inspired. It's fun. It fills me up. I want to do it so I'm making time for it.
Here's a look at my title page for 2014 :
Mixing it up a little this year having the photos of each of us in the 4x6 pockets + one photo of my One Little Word.
I'm not using a specific core kit in 2014. I decided that I have so many supplies here - including a bunch of cards left over from the Seafoam kit and products from past and current Studio Calico monthly Project Life® kits that I'm going to just use what I already have.
On each of the photos of us I added a metal-rimmed circle tag + white letter stickers for our initial and age (for most of this year).
On top of the gold foil on navy pattern paper (from the Blue Note Scrapbook Kit) I added three phrases from this sheet great sheet that was included in the Antiquary Scrapbook Kit. I stitched a square around the phrases with my sewing machine.
Hello Life 2014 is a PNG file available here that was traced and cut with the Silhouette. This set is on sale 30% off through the 10th along with all my other brush sets. You can learn how to trace my PNG files using the Silhouette software here.
The "3" is from a wood-veneer set that I painted white and stitched on top of a star pattern transparency and star pattern paper (both from Blue Note). Stars just make me happy.
The "Fly Me To The Moon" overlay was part of the Union Meadows PL add-on kit. I stitched that on top of some wood-grain pattern paper that was included in the Copper Mountain 4x6 paper pad and placed the transparent stars between the overlay and the pattern paper.
And I'm still rounding corners using the Corner Chomper. I like it like that.
I also started Week One last week and wanted to share a look at what I'm doing with my weekly date cards:
Rather than using a pattern paper card for 2014 I'm going to use a photo in that top left pocket. Most weeks I have more than enough photos to select one that can include the date.
I'm using this brush set that includes all the weeks of the year: Messy Weekly Lines Brushes (also on sale 30% off through Jan 10th). The package includes each week with the phrase to both the left and to the right so you can choose the one that best fits with your photo. The font I'm using for the date is Sentinel.

Here's a little walk down memory lane with a look at my past title pages:
Love the title page and new weekly card! Thanks for letting us know your not using a kit this time, was wondering about that. I'm using up my kits this time too, trying not to give in to another one although I have my eye on a couple.
Happy Project Life 2014!

Beautiful! Great idea to use your supply stash. I thought about it but gave into the urge and bought the Kraft edition. Enjoy your work!

Glad to see you are continuing Project Life. I have not been consistent with my documentation but I have decided to adopt your method of using the same page protectors for every week. Printing 4 large photos if I have them and filling in the smaller pockets with journaling cards etc. Finishing December Daily and beginning One Little Word.

I am with you on using what I have. There are many pieces left over from each kit and every year I think I should combine all of them...then I get enticed by new kits :) And then I really would like to make up my own cards too. Love how each year changes and love this project!

Love the parallel form of the photos you chose for Anna and Simon... the accessories say it all and it gives a great balance without feeling contrived or overdone.

Love the colors. I love stars too, they are gender neutral! I'm not doing PL this year, finding my own way in how I want to record memories. Trying to reduce constantly being behind the lens and editing pics, printing, then scrapping. This is the year of unfinished and waiting projects for me. I am going to try to scrap one photo a month to tell a story and see how that goes. I guess it's just that purge feeling of the new year!
I did project life for 2 years now with a double-spread each week. I also decided to finish up these two album and not starting a new one now. I want to do something smaller this year, just don't have decided yet, what to do.
Love that Patti - and I'm working on a post about my year of finishing my un-finished projects too.

So inspirational Ali, thank you for sharing your pages. You have inspired me to try harder with my photographs. Lately they haven't been great, I need to raise my game a bit. It would be nice to start 2014 with better images, and you've encouraged me to do better.

This past year, I used a photo as a title card a couple of times and loved it.
Thanks for your continued inspiration.

I really love the look of the messy weekly lines on your photos. Can you tell me if those can be used with any programs other than photoshop? I dont have that software on my computer and usually just add text to my pics using Picasa. I would really love to start incorporating some of your digital items, but just dont think that a photoshop purchase is in my budget right now. Is there something else I can use?

Ali, thank you for the continued inspiration when it comes to PL! I am in love with your title page and feel the same way you do about PL - it fills me up. I love sitting down to look through my albums and I am anticipating starting 2014. I started PL midway through 2013 and just love the thought of having a brand new year to start with and keep current. I can't wait to work on my title page! Thank you Ali!
Good for you, Melissa for starting mid-year. I have one year that I only made it to June, but I am so thankful for what I did complete.

Love your intro to 2014 page.Just wondering if the Hello Life 2014 silhouette die cut is glued onto a transparency before it goes into a pocket or if it goes in without bending into the pocket? Also if you do put some die cuts on transparencies, what glue do you use that won't look bad from the back of the pocket page if you are wanting it to be the only see through in that pocket? I hope those questions make sense... Maybe you use a really thick paper for your silhouette cuts?
Hi Cele - I just slide it in on it's own. I most often use Bazzill cardstock for my cuts - I do have to be careful but not overly so. Most of the time if I'm adhering something to a transparency I'll try to adhere something to the back too - or I'll staple rather than using a wet or sticky adhesive.

I love your title page! Such a lovely picture of you :) I like the way you're doing your dates this year. I've been thinking of doing something similar, as I always have so many photos I want to include. I really enjoy that you keep sharing your pages with us!

Look what a difference a year makes - Anna looks so much more grown up in the picture for this year! What a great way to start the year - may it be another awesome one for you :)

I love seeing the comparison of your title pages over the years! Anna and Simon were so little in the early ones! So awesome! And you're weekly cards look great! I'm planning on using your messy week lines as well for my title cards, but I never thought to use them over photos...
I've decided to start my 2014 album even though I'm still finishing up my 2013 album as well... It shouldn't be too hard to work on both at once when catch up is so easy :)

I'm using digital project life for 2013 and was working on my pages yesterday. I'm up to week 34 but dragging and dropping is pretty relaxing stuff and going through photos from a few months ago is very therapeutic and funny seeing what the kids were up to. I love the PL books with printed photos but space is an issue and also printing at home is expensive and going to the photo printing centre maybe twice a week, once to drop off and once to pick up I just got too far behind. The digital version is what I feel will work best for me but I love all the embellishments the traditional book can provide. As Karen Russell always says "it's a cake issue" "you can't have your cake and eat it too" I will be getting those weekly title brushes they look good and as you say you always have more photos for the week.
