Katie's Project Life® 2013 | Weeks 49 Through 52

KJ_WK51CLOSE

Welcome to Katie's Project Life® 2013 | Weeks 49 through 52.

In an attempt to get caught up with sharing my weeks, I am going to be posting only the full page spread. I recently just photographed about 3 months worth of my weekly layouts, and this part 3 of sharing them here. You can click on the photo to see more detail.

WEEK 49 | This week was the first week in December. I had previously started a December Daily™ album, but never finished. I did complete the first few days though. It was so nice that all of the December Daily™ cards and photos were already sized 3x4 and 4x6. I just slipped the photos right in the new pockets and voila!  I worked straight out of the Studio Calico December Daily™ Kit in terms of cards and embellishments. The "cheer" circle is from Ali's Joy And Light Circle Brushes and Stamps.

WEEK 50 | I had so many photos from the weekend and not so many from the week, so I just decided to included them all. All of these photos are from Friday, Saturday and Sunday of that week. I tried to not get too caught up on when the photos were taken and where they are located in the weekly layout.  My brother-in-law turned 30 and we went dancing at an 80's night at a bar in Portland. My whole family went decked out in 80's gear and we had a blast. My family really likes to dance. I included a few digital brushes from Ali's Let It Shine Brushes and Stamps set.

WEEK 51 & 52 | I combined the last two weeks of December and then added an insert for more photos and journaling. These two weeks were a fun combination of the days leading up to Christmas, which was spent with Ali's family at the Oregon Coast, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and then finally New Years Eve.

Here's a look at the layout with the front of the insert. I stapled some of the red pom pom ribbon that was included in the kit on the edge of the page protector (I cut down a Design C page protector.)

On the back of the insert I included 3 blank 4x6 journal cards that I stamped with Ali's Hello Santa Banners stamps. I used Studio Calico's new ink in Well Red.

At the very back of the album I included a 6x12 envelope that is home to all of the holiday cards that I received this year.

I decided not to do an end page. I was ready to be done and move on to 2014.

Looking back on all of these weeks makes my heart feel so full. Amidst all of the chaos and craziness that this year brought, I was determined to finish. Even if that meant catching up on 5.5 months of it in December/January. I knew that 20, 30, or even 40 years from now, this year is one that I would especially want to remember. All of the planning and the ups and the downs. It's something I know I will cherish forever.

As this was my first year working on a Project Life® album, I learned a few things a long the way:

  • I learned that I like matching colors.

  • I learned that I like my pages more when my photos are bright.

  • I learned that I like having a small bunch of embellishments to work from (which is why I love the Studio Calico Project Life® Kits.)

  • I learned that most of the time for me, simple is better.

  • While playing catch-up, I learned that it was easier than I thought to write the words that went with the photos.

  • I was reminded over and over again how thankful I am to live the life that I do.

Thank you for welcoming me and my weekly pages here over the past year. It is so fun to be able to share a little bit of myself with all of you.

Here's to 2014!

Thank you for sharing your pages. I said once before here that this is my hobby and I so love to read and see other people's work. Their process and supplies. I don't do Project Life but it's memory keeping with cool things to do. I think I may agree about having less to choose from. I also love that red ink, that's on my next shopping list. Michelle t

Great idea about putting the cards in the envelope! I've done a December Daily album for 5 years now and I mainly do it as a means to hang onto all of the cards I receive. This is a great option too! Also love the pom pom trimming.

Wow, great job catching up! I like the journaling making a Christmas tree shape on the woodgrain background on week 50. Was that a pre-designed card, or you own idea?

Thanks! It was my idea :) I cut out words and phrases from patterned paper that was included the December Daily™ Kit.

Thanks for sharing Katie! This was my first year too and sooooo thankful I hung in there even when I got behind. This weekly project has become more meaningful than my 1-2 page scrapbook spreads. It's those ups/downs, highs/lows and exciting/boring stuff that I might not have captured but already treasuring as I flip back to the beginning of 2013. Taking it on again in 2014 wasn't even a question!!! Look forward to you and Ali sharing your work and ideas.

    Katie,
Thanks so much for sharing this all year. I've pinned more than one of your ideas and I don't do PL but some of them have been super clever. I've always thought that the one time I could see myself making the effort to do PL would be if I ever got engaged. I agree that this year will be such a treasure as you make your way through decades of marriage. I would LOVE to have something, anything that would tell me a bit of the inside scoop about what went on before my parents wed. They were married for 49 years so may you and Peter be so blessed. :)
