Project Life® 2013 | Week Forty-Two
Welcome to Project Life® 2013 | Week Forty-Two (October 14th through October 20th).
A couple of questions for you today:
- Do you guys like seeing these catch-up weeks?
- Does it matter to you that they aren't from last week?
- Is there anything specific you'd like to know about my process or approach to Project Life®?
Mainly I want to get a sense if you care when the spreads come from? I've been keeping up with 2014 but haven't shared them yet (except my Title Page and Week Three) because I feel like I want to get 2013 out of the way first.
Here's a look at Week 42:
When I looked back through my 2011 and 2012 Project Life® albums one of the things I love seeing are the bits of life: receipts, drawings, tags, etc. I seem to have gotten away from that a bit in 2013 and I'd like to make that happen again more in 2014.
I've now got a supply of 8.5 inch x 11 inch page protectors back on hand to use as inserts to help with that process.
This week I included the kids school photos. On top of the two of them together I added a white label sticker from Kelly Purkey/Simon Says Stamp and wrote their grade on each side.
Heart Fall is from this set of word art: Fall Boxes
Heart This is a printable card from this set: Hello Fall
And one of those things I keep using are Heidi's handwritten glitter word stickers. Love those things. I used them on the page below as well.
I'm still doing that thing where I cut a PL card and add a portion of it to a photo for my journaling. It's such a quick and easy way to add a bit of context and a few more words to my spread.
Katie and I went to Nashville for the weekend and made it to the Country Music Hall of Fame and got to see Scotty McCreery at the Grand Ole Opry. Katie is a much bigger country music fan than me but man I loved it all. I especially loved getting to go to Hatch Show Print and came home with two new prints.

Yes. No. No. I love reading your posts and seeing layouts. It spurs inspiration and the weeks really don't matter. I'm playing major catch up and find that figuring out my own way of what works and doesn't is better than trying it someone else's way.
Could you please stop showing us the awesome new products though?! Ha! I've made more trips to my LSS in the past 2 weeks than I did in the past 6 months. MAMBI stickers and Heidi everything. Winning me back!
Exactly. Any layout is inspiring. And it makes me smile that I am not the only one who is behind :) XO

I actually kind of like seeing catch up album pages. I think it's reassuring to me (and others) to see that we're not the only ones who fall behind sometimes and go back and catch up. I think it would be nice though, for me personally, if I could see how you keep track of what happened then. I know that I either write it down in a template or use sticky notes. Would love to see how your process plays out on the catch pages.
I agree. Current doesn't matter. I would love to see how you keep the spread cohesive. Do you do anything specific to keep things cohesive throughout or is it pretty much just about the two page spread? Thanks and please both you and Katie keep it coming!
Yes, what she said!

I really enjoy these posts! It's my first year doing project life so I appreciate seeing layouts to get sme ideas of what I can do beyond just sliding the cards in and calling it done :)

Since scrappin' is both a hobby and a way of life for me, I'm not a stickler for it being "on time." That would just add pressure to something that's supposed to feel fun and joyful - so I hope you aren't stressing either about being "behind." You actually know what happened each week - that alone would mean being caught up to me!! Life is full of deadlines, so I'm thinking our hobbies should feel more free & easy. I'd love to keep seeing your PL layouts, regardless of the timeframe.

Oh...I want it all! Last year, this year, process! Keep it coming Ali!
Yes, yes! What Daniele said! Keep it coming!
Ditto.......to what they said!

I love seeing the layouts no matter when you post them. How do you go back and catch up? Are the items from that week organized together? I love the idea of project life but am a little intimidated because I am afraid to be able to keep up with it. Is it a project you could start now?

I love to see your Project Life pages, it doesn't matter when you post them. !:) And what I would like to see is just what you already show us: the pictures, a lit bit about what happened that week, your choice of products, what you think about the process. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Ali. I would love to know more about how you keep all your stuff together when you do play catch up? I mean, week 42 was ages ago so how do you remember the bits and pieces from that week? Do you take notes? Do you put all the ephemera in the same place? Etc. thanks
Yes! This is a great question and something I've struggled with too. I have emails, school work, etc. that "go with" certain time frames/weeks, but it can be tricky to keep it all together.
And to answer your questions, Ali, I'm inspired by everything you post, whenever you post it. I'm just grateful you do PL and take the time to share it. Thank you!
Me too! I was just thinking that I can't remember a few photos as I'm playing catch up myself! :)
I agree!

It does not matter to me what order things are posted. I love to come here for the inspiration, to learn different processes and see different ways of using products. It actually makes me a little happy to know that not everyone is completely caught up with their project life books. I would love to know more about your process for going back and getting caught up. So, I love seeing your layouts no matter when they are from. I love that you posted an actual non project life layout about Anna the other day! Although I love doing our PL books, I also really do still enjoy traditional scrapbooking too! Thank you for everything you post here. Your website truly is motivating and inspirational!

I love seeing your catch up posts. But I'd like to be seeing your 2014 stuff too!

I enjoy your project life posts and it doesn't matter to me when they are from. I don't do Project Life (though that may change in the yrs to come). But I still like seeing it because to me I am learning. It's fun to see other people's processes. It's my hobby and I love reading about it. I scrap regular pages and whatever strikes me to work on. I have photos pulled aside and separated by "future page". It may sound disorganized but I don't have a dedicated scrap room and keep supplies and photos organized as best I can.
Sorry I hit the wrong button. Just wanted to say also that I've picked up a couple organizing tips here that work for me and a couple techniques that I'm looking to learn to do. Thanks for sharing. Michelle t

I love seeing (admiring!) your PL layouts, whether they are from the past week or from last year. I'm looking for inspiration in your layout (and totally find it), whether they are actual layout or not (in fact, I would say that I don't care). Thanks a lot for sharing.

Ali, it doesn't matter what year your PL or any other layout is from that you do. They are inspirational and full of beautiful ideas!
So, PLEASE carry on posting your catch-up pages:-)) we LOVE them!

Are you kidding??? I love it all!! Please keep on posting all your wonderful pages, ideas, thoughts and all of Kate's too. You both are such great inspirations!

I absolutely love seeing the catch-ups! It doesn't matter to me whether it's from Week 30 of 2012 or if it's the latest week of 2014.
I'd love to know how you pick specific pictures to include in pages especially when you have tons of them from a week. (Sorry if it's already been mentioned before!)

Love to see all you pl pages; doesn't matter when-it's all inspiring! Things I'm curious about: how do you store stuff? What's your process for putting an actual spread together (enjoyed seeing cathy zielske's walk through in time lapse and real time). Thanks for all you do!

I love that you are catching up and sharing that with us. It keeps me inspired since I'm always playing catch up. I get great ideas from your posts regardless of whether it's a 2014 spread or 2013.

I love seeing the pages regardless of when ~ love them for inspiration and ideas as well as product eye candy. Wouldn't mind if they were batched together monthly or done weekly

I come here for the thoughts that you provoke and the ideas that you generate, whether it be through a weekly PL spread, a travel layout, or a series of questions you pose. It doesn't matter one bit which point in time it represents as I'm always inspired. Thanks!

Personally, I love seeing all the PL you want to post! Doesn't matter from when it is, or how current. In fact, just last week, I finally finished my 2013 book, so I was in the same boat until then. Whew! Feels good to have it done, though I still love it madly, it was wearing me down that I didn't have the last year done, lol. I always learn/see something new/that I really like, when seeing your layouts, so please keep bronging 'em on:)
What she said + I would like to know how you are storing/displaying all of your albums ... Mine are starting to take up a lot of room!

Ali, I like seeing the catch up weeks; I like knowing that even you have to catch up some weeks, I like seeing how you use PL products and how you compliment the PL stuff with other stuff. It does not matter that they are not from last week as I can use the ideas at any time, my family is very different from yours so our events are very different from yours, it's how you do the recording that gets my own creative juices roiling around. I think you've been pretty generous about sharing your process. If something has changed, if you've learned something and adjusted your process as a result, that might be interesting, otherwise I think I get your process.

I love seeing the progress on all your pages. It doesn't matter to me if they are catch-up from last year. Re printing the photos, did you print them as you went along or are you printing them now. If printing now, are you printing at home or sending them out? I have a big backlog of 2013 PL because I renovated two rooms in my house including my craft room. I have pictures in online folders, chronologically. If caught up I print at home but plan to do a large batch print job for the backed up weeks. Wondering how you are handling this?

Yep, I love seeing them whether they are last weeks or last years!
I also LOVE that you're shooting for a layout a week! I'm doing the same thing so I look forward to the inspiration.

I enjoy each and every week, from both of you, Ali and Katie. I just started PL this year and love seeing what other people document. You provide such inspiration each week - and help me open my eyes! thank you and please continue to inspire us!
