Traditional Scrapbook Layout | Sweet Anna Girl

AE_SweetAnnaGirlCloseUp

I got my Studio Calico Sugar Rush Scrapbook Kit in the mail yesterday and it made me want to make something right then and there.

So I did.

As you might have read earlier this week one of my goals this year is to finish-up some of my unfinished projects.

Another goal I have for 2014 is to make one layout a week and share it here.

It's been a long time since I was in the habit of regularly making layouts. Some of that is due to my own movement towards Project Life® and some of it is just because I've been busy in other areas of my business. The block scheduling I've alluded to and will share about soon, in addition to saying no to things that are taking me away from making stuff, is so far helping me to make this goal happen.

Who cares if I didn't start on January 1? I'm starting now.

Here's a look at the layout I put together:

I took the post I wrote to Anna from yesterday and created a layout around it.

I copied the text directly from the post and created a new document in Photoshop for printing. The words were printed on a pattern paper that was part of the kit using my Epson R2000 printer.

This is a classically simple grid-design with areas assigned for certain things: words, image, pattern and embellishment. I paired the long strip of journaling with a 4 inch x 6 inch photo + a pocket of hearts & die cut embellishments + letter sticker title + a strip of pattern washi tape + two strips of pattern paper.

This Studio Calico kit (which is still available) included a package of plastic hearts that I love, love, love and definitely hope will be available outside a kit in the future. I happened to use all of them here.

The only thing I used on this layout that wasn't included in the kit is the plastic pocket that's holding the hearts. That pocket is from Russell + Hazel and the product name is the Mini Adhesive Pocket Set.

Along the left edge on top of the pattern paper strip I added "a2014" for the date + two of those great little gold enamel dots + a stamped sentiment from the stamp set (all included with the kit).

I also rounded each of the four outer corners and added a bit of pink ink around the edges of the white cardstock.

I totally believe in staying current while working on catching up. Very different feeling scrapbooking old vs new photo's and I love both. Super lay-out of a special girl.

Pretty layout. I love the stitched look on layouts I've been actively asking a friend and looking into a class to learn how to do it by hand. I also like the journaling. Those hearts are cute. Michelle t

Very lovely layout. I love your goals this year. I'm still working on fine tuning mine. :) I really like your idea of blocking out time. I'm interested to hear more about this.

The layout/story is so beautiful and creative, Ali.

Also, I love your post--I think I may be in a similar place: Blocking time, making space, and diving into projects that fuel me (rather than those projects that, also, matter, but sort of drain my spirit). I've realized, too, that I place a lot of "new commitments" pressures on myself in January--when what I really need to do is rest because of December! So, I've decided that it's all right--my cadence doesn't have to keep time with the new year, it can keep beat with its own drum. =)

Anyhow, it's kind of nice to share that space with a friend.

HUGS to you and your new layout-a-week project and three cheers for going at your own pace!

Howdy this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use
WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I'm starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get advice from someone with
experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
