Project Life® 2014 | Week Two

Welcome to Project Life® 2014 | Week Two (January 6th through January 12th).

One of the things I've liked doing recently is including more words, even taking photos of words, to add to my Project Life® spreads.

This was the week I wrote about living Hands Free and included it as a 6x12 insert:

You can see the front side of the 6x12 insert above and the back side (pattern paper) below:

More about that fun Dodge Ball pattern paper below.

"Today" is a sticker from this set of great black/clear stickers from Me And My Big Ideas.

The red #7 sticker is from this set from Kelly Purkey/Simon Says Stamp. It's a great set of number stickers. It's adhered to a journal card included with the Wellington Childhood Edition Mini Kit.

The third card over I created using a "hello" card from Studio Calico + "love this life" stamp from my Weekly Review set + "#hasmyheart" acrylic tab that was included with a set of Heidi Swapp die cuts.

For this insert I used my new Words And Photos Vol. 2 6x12 Layered Template set. It includes two columns of text to help you organize those longer stories. I adjusted this one a bit to accommodate an even longer story by making the top portion shorter.

Here's what that template set looks like:

You can mask photos behind the word art like I show in the sample (that's coming in a later Project Life® post) or you can change the color or add a pattern paper behind the word art. Lots of options.

I've got a tutorial on working with my 6x12 layered template series here. That specific video tutorial uses the Vol. 1 set but you'll get the idea.

This is my favorite way to include longer stories in Project Life®.

I looked through my photos from this particular week and didn't have one that I liked enough to enlarge to a 6x12 so I decided to just pick a fun pattern paper I liked and slip into the pocket.

Before slipping it into the pocket I added those Wanderlust Mini Days Of The Week Clothespins - again taking off the clothespin portion just like I did here.

That burger is from Tasty & Sons in Portland. Highly recommended spot. Under the photo of the burger I copied a nice email I received from Simon's main teacher.

The "super" card was a 4x6 that was included with the Studio Calico Office Hours Project Life® kit - it was a 4x6 that I cut down to a 3x4.

And seriously, grocery lists are always a good thing to add.

I'm so inspired to try Project Life. I like the idea of emails or notes from the teacher and other bits from daily life. I'm still on the fence. I'm so good at getting my longer stories on paper to remember since I'm not a chronological scrapboooker. I think I would have to invest in a Selphy or something for PL. I love your beautiful pages. The photo of Anna is so cute. Thank you for sharing so generously. Michelle t

    Ali,

Love your post, as always. You continue to inspire me to do PL even as life is crazy , and even when life is ho hum. Thank you for that.

Query: where did you get the "Between stimulus and response..." quote/card. Love it.

    Thanks.

    Jen

Yes - that's where it was from - Real Simple magazine.

I believe the quote is from the Jan/Feb Real Simple magazine. I tore it out and pinned it up by my desk. My word of the year is "choose" and I love this quote!

That pattern paper really is the wow factor for me. I also love the angle at which you photographed the quote. And really really love seeing more PL pages on your blog again!

How do you get your photos to look the way they do? Do you photo shop them? Do you do something to the exposure? I just love them and would like to get mine to look that way.

Hi Rhonda - are you talking about the photos of the projects OR the photos in the projects?

The photos in her project life?

These pages are awesome. I'm a very heavy journaler and love all the words you've been using on your pages.

I know you've probably been asked a million times, but what do you typically use as a journaling font? You've included a lot of text and I love that it's still easy on the eyes. - Thank you!

    Ali,
I love seeing how you mix in everyday items (flu vaccine & grocery list!) to make it artistic in your spreads. Hoping to add that into my PL as well.
Also wanted to thank you here (as well as tagged you on Instagram today) for being open and sharing your hands free journey. Your post was the first I had heard of the blog and I am reading the book now. Very slowly and intentionally. My hands free journey is one of my action items for my one little word project and I can say it has just begun but already life changing! Thank you does not begin to properly express my gratitude but thank you!!!!

I just cut out that "between stimulus and response..." quote to use for my OLW vision board, as my word is Choose! That quote really resonated with me, how cool to see you include it in your Project Life! I also love the idea of taking a picture of the words instead of cutting them out!

I love your willingness to just cut stuff up sometimes. I hate to admit it, but that is so outside of the box for. I noticed your SUPER card and I actually thought, "hmmm, that looks familiar but mine is bigger than that. I wish I had a little one, too." I guess I think it's all Rapunzel's hair and that the world will be altered if I cut it to better suit my needs. Thanks for giving me permission to destruct as needed!

Hi Ali! I'm sure you have been asked this a million times and I've been combing through your posts to try and find an answer... but where do you print our your 6x12 inserts?? Do you have a printer you use and do it at home or farm them out somewhere? Thanks for all the inspiration!
