What Do You Want To See | aliedwards.com Reader Survey

AE_PleaseAndThankYou

I've been blogging since 2004.

In internet years that's a pretty darn long time.

I've written over 3000 posts that include some of the simplest and also the most challenging times in my life like learning of Simon's autism diagnosis or sharing that Chris and I were divorcing.

Throughout those years I've held a variety of different thoughts and opinions about the process of blogging: write what you love, write what you think people want to read, focus on content, promote products, generate income, etc. I've experienced the evolution of personal to professional and questioned how much is too much and how much is not enough over and over again.

Most of the time I've kept it pretty consistent. When you click on my site most of the time you'll find a mix of the following:

  • Personal life stories and experiences.

  • Memory keeping projects. This often includes my processes,  my successes and challenges with those projects, organization, etc.

  • Product promotion. I promote my own products and workshops and those of others I think you guys would find interesting and inspiring. Sometimes that includes giveaways.

The thread of memory keeping/scrapbooking links most of it together.

I don't talk a lot about the business of blogging here but this site is a major part of my business and how I support my family.

Up until 2012 when Katie was hired as my assistant it's just been me driving this ship. Sometimes that's really awesome and sometimes it's brutal. There are times when I have no idea what to say next, what direction to take, and there are times when I feel like I know exactly where I'm going. Most of the time it's a crazy mixture of the two.

The internet and the way we all interact with it continues to evolve and change. I want to be open to evolving personally and professionally. I want to provide content that's interesting to you and to me. I want to keep on keeping it real and authentic in all that I do.

All that to say, I'm interested in what you'd like to see here.

I'm interested in what you'd like to see more and less of in terms of posts. I'm also interested in what kinds of products you'd like to see me work on in the future and what types of workshops you'd like to see moving forward.

I've come up with a quick 10-question survey and today I'm asking you to take a few minutes to respond. I'd greatly appreciate it.

Click here to participate in the 2014 reader survey.

I'll leave it open for a few days and then share the results with you in an upcoming post.

As always, thank you for being here. Thank you for continuing to be a part of this crazy little corner of the online world.

Congrats on 10 years!! I'm so thankful for all you've shared and inspired and taught me here on your blog. Even in the old days thru only CK you inspired me but this way is so much nicer!! I would say to keep doing just what your doing, I enjoy everything you share. I love hearing the mom stuff/fun stuff and how you keep it real with even the hard stuff.
I've said this before and it's still true, your blog feels welcoming and from the heart. Thank you for that.
    love and prayers

p.s. You can share more pictures of Simon and Anna, never get tired of seeing them.
Off to do the survey now.

I filled in the survey already and afterwards thought: could you please add Pinterest to your site I.e. Make it easy for me to pin layouts and spreads. It would make it easier to refer back to and mean I can actually remember the inspiration for why I bought a stamp/embellishment/etc.

    Keep up the good work
    And thanks

Hi Jane - there's actually already a button at the bottom of each post that you can click to pin :).

I missed the survey as I have been behind on keeping up with my favorite blogs lately, so I just barely saw it. I would be most excited about new workshops added. I love OLW (3rd year), Storyology, Hello Story. I think I would love any workshop you come up with related to story elements, digital scrapbooking, or photography. I also always love Week in the Life. As far as regular posts, my favorites are you reflections on life for the same reasons that you were mentioning in your recent reading post and why you like non-fiction. Maybe you even have a book in your future :)

I am bummed I missed the survey. I have been a reader of your blog for over 6 years. I am in the midst of finals and have not had time to read for leisure and got behind on my blogs. I don't journal or scrapbook and I'm not sure how I came across your blog years ago but I love your artistic style, outlook on life and family values and I thank you for allowing us to share a small part of all that with you. I have enjoyed seeing your kids grow and move and adapt to new things. Lately however I feel like the focus of your blog has been more on scrapbooking. Since I don't scrapbook I trailed off a bit to check posts periodically vs. daily like I used to. I would love to see more pics of you guys and your adventures and I always LOVE the pics from your parents house at the beach! That truly is a slice of heaven! :-)

I have been away from home with little access to the internet, so I missed the survey & am now trying to catch up on your blog posts. But I do want to comment. Ali, I LOVE your blog, your style, your creativity, your sharing. I have granddaughters almost the same ages as Simon & Anna. I've followed you since you started your blog (can it really be 10 years?!), & back to CK days. I've loved watching your little ones grow & seeing you evolve, having related to many things myself. It took a lot of courage to share some of your life with us. I don't want you to change what you include in your blog, other than perhaps to include more on scrapbooking. I've learned so much about content & incite, in addition to the physical aspects. I especially like the step-by-step project info with photos, which are so helpful. Just keep on keeping on, Ali!
