This month's stamp set: Today Circles

Here's a look at my layout:

AE_LazyDayFull

I took this photo last week of two very giggly kids at Dairy Queen. They aren't always like this so I was pretty thankful to capture the moment, albeit wonderfully blurry.

For the layout I decided to go with a single page 8.5x11 and used the new stamp set to create a border along the bottom (see the close up image below). I over-layed the white heart transparency on white cardstock - love that white on white.

AE_LazyDayCloseUpTop

The "A Lazy Day" overlay and the blue circle "life documented" accent are from Elle's Studio's May Kit (available after 8am PST today).

The journal card where I wrote out the story and stamped "today" in light blue is from the Wellington Childhood Project Life Kit. If you haven't checked this one out it's pretty great - lots of cards that are prompt based which allow you to capture a certain thing about your child right now.

I loved how the rolling date stamp fits perfectly under "today" inside the circle. And speaking of that circle, I used some of the Mr.Heuy's Spring Sky Ink Dauber from the Camelot Scrapbook Kit vs. a regular ink pad. I liked how it gave it more of a watercolor look vs. a traditional stamp pad.

The yellow section here is actually four different layers: a #2 wood veneer + a piece of yellow vellum + acrylic stars that were part of the National Scrapbook Day kit from Studio Calico + the lazy day overlay. Loved layered each of those elements on top of each other.

AE_DailyLifeLove

I stamped three of the stamps along the bottom (love how they end up with just the top portion of the circle on there) in three different colors and then hand-wrote #thankful, #lovethis, and #twokids. I also used a bit of Heidi's Mustard Color Shine to finish it off (I just laid a piece of scrap paper on top of the rest of the page to protect it from the ink).

ACTION ITEMS/IDEAS

  • Play around with layers. A white heart overlay is on top of the white cardstock and the combination of the wood veneer number + yellow vellum + acrylic stars + the lazy day transparency. Layers are such a great metaphor in memory keeping.

  • 3x4 cards work perfectly well outside of Project Life. Love simply combining two of them with one 4x6 photo to create a layout.

  • Sometimes it's really easy to just keep white thread in my sewing machine. For this page I decided I wanted something different so I put some yellow thread in my machine for the addition of just a bit more color.
