2015 Family Gift Ideas

This morning I was thinking about gift-giving for my loved ones and the things my family has enjoyed this year and wanted to share a quick list of ideas with you.

Kiwi Crate Family Brands | A fun, educational kid-subscription program that has options for different ages. Each box has a specific creative project that includes instructions and the needed supplies. I've had these for the kids on and off and am getting Anna a new subscription for Christmas this year. I like gifts like this that keep giving.

Illustrated Harry Potter And The Sorceer's Stone | I bought this for Simon earlier this year and it's awesome. Beautiful illustrations accompany the whole first story in the Harry Potter series. Great for reading aloud or for any other fans of the stories.

Christmas Company Ornaments from Land Of Nod | I love these tree ornaments and love the idea of buying a family for the families I love most. They are sold individually so you can customize to your loved ones.

Qello Concerts | This is a subscription service for watching concerts from yesterday and today (I watch them via my Apple TV but you can also just stream it online). If you have a music lover in your life this might be a fun gift - I love putting it on while I'm cooking or when we are just hanging out. There's a free seven-day trial to check it out. I just watched an old Paul Simon one that was awesome.

Kindle Paperwhite | I finally bought myself one of these (I think it was last year) and I'm so glad that I did. I still buy paper books (usually non-fiction) but I am loving the Kindle for travel and for simplicity.

Lego Dimensions | This is the video game that Simon has been working and saving for over the last few months. It's really a cool video game (he uses it with the Wii) that incorporates a bunch of different characters into one game. Think Scooby Doo + the Wicked Witch Of The West + characters from Back To The Future all working together. He's loving it.

Wishing you all the best!

Hey Ali! Thank you for the ideas. I just signed up for the Kiwi Crate activities. I can't wait for them to arrive. Anyway, I gave them your name as a referral and $10 credit will automatically be applied to your next purchase or billing. Cheers!

Cool stuff. I love Paul SImon, I might have to check it out, but I don't have a special tv. I'll see what it's about. I love my Kindle, too, it's really been a lifeline for me. Thanks for your sales, Ali. I have to make choices, I can't get everything I want, but it was awesome to get things I've wished for a while now. Thanks. Hope you're having a great holiday weekend. You too Michelle - thank you :). You can also watch Qello online without an Apple TV.

We are getting a wii for Christmas, but I have no idea what kind to get. My kids like "active" video games and I know they will love the Lego games. What kind do you have and would you recommend it?

Hi! Simon really is only into the Lego games - those are the only one's he has for the wii (all the different ones - like Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, etc). This new "theme" (I guess you could call it) incorporates a bunch of different characters and he is really into collecting them all.

I so appreciate you posting this list, Ali! I haven't heard of Quello and it's the perfect idea for my hubby!

And I got the illustrated HP book for my birthday this Fall and it's just lovely. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough for us to read it together. <3

Hey Ali- Have you heard of Raddish Kids? It's a monthly kit for cooking with your kids. Super Cute design and small family owned business here in SoCal. I subscribed this year and we are LOVING it- every month has a new theme, 3 recipes and a craft to make together. Seems like something you would like (since I know you so well ;)

I love watching music concerts and documentaries. Would be great if Qello was available in Canada.

Thanks for the heads up on the Lego Dimensionals. I have a huge Lego fan in the house. This will go over big at Christmas. Speaking of Lego....do you know of any sets to put together that Simon thinks are cool? Having one of the sets to do over the holiday has been a tradition. I like to have a surprise gift under the tree for the family.

    Thanks!
