Project Life® 2016 | Week Three

Happy Monday and welcome to Project Life® 2016 | Week Three.

I love this. I love this. I love this.

That's all.

One more friendly reminder that my Storytelling With Project Life® workshop starts tomorrow. Please note that the optional kit has now sold out.

Here's a look at Week Three:

One of the things I've learned after going back through all my Project Life® albums since 2010 for the Workshop is that I love to have a mix of weeks. That means that some weeks are really simple in their design & execution and other weeks are more "crafty" or simply include more products. I want both styles in my album.

Cards included on this side of the spread include AE Hello Today Journal Card Set ("Monday"), AE Love Life Journal Card Set ("don't forget"), AE Celebrate Journal Card Set ("celebrate together"), and "the ultimate list" is a sticky note that was included in this SC Canyonlands Stationary Set

On top of the cat photo I added some Crate Paper/Maggie Holmes Thicker Letter Stickers. You'll see these repeated two other times this week.

On top of the 6x8 page protector I added a strip of mini washi tape - every once in awhile I add something to the outside of the page protectors and this was one of those times.

After I took photos of my spread this week I decided that I wanted to add the story I posted last week about going skiing. I formatted it in Photoshop to fit in a 6x8 page protector and printed out a photo of Aaron in the snow to add to the front.

When you look at the spread the two 6x8 page protector inserts lay on top of each other in the album. I staggered them using the bottom two holes for the one holding Anna's note and using the top two holes for the story and photo about the snow.

Here's a look at the second insert:

Avery Index Tabs hold stamped labels that make it easy to turn the page.

Journal cards on this side of the spread include AE Celebrate Journal Card Set ("let's party") and AE This And That Journal Card Set ("the story of today"). Foam stickers were added to the top of two more of the photos for a nice visual triangle across the spread.

Have a great week!

I like how you make room for the notes from your kids. I need to do that. I have the sweetest things from Sara all over my dresser, and even stuff from my boys. Really nice, cool spreads. Your photos are beautiful. Michelle t

Thanks Ali, so great to come across something I've not seen done in PL before, and I love the two overlapping inserts. Getting excited about the course now, signed up because I was just not feeling it anymore.

I spent so long searching for my PL "style" and this year I'm having so much fun throwing it out the window a bit and creating fuller, "craftier" layouts (maybe that's called "refining," actually – ha!). You are the queen of such layouts so like everyone else here, I'm thrilled you're posting these posts again. They're always full of inspiration.

I am having a hard time doing two page spreads for a "week", but I like the ephemera and the look of different pictures. I think I may have to stick to the "monthly" concept, and work on one 12x12 page at a time. I'm looking forward to the start of the "Storytelling with Project Life" class tomorrow, as I hope it makes the "lightbulb" go off, the same way the "Storytelling with December Daily" class did! Thank you for all of your storytelling inspiration!

Ali, do you mainly use your iPhone to take photos or do you use your DSLR? Also what printer do you use? The photos always seem sharp and great quality.

In this spread the one of Aaron and I in the car and the one of Simon and the cake are DSLR. The rest at all iPhone. I use an Epson PictureMate PM400 (linked in the supplies above) for printing 4x6 and 3x4 photos.

The picturemate has been discontinued in Australia, unfortunately, so I am trying to find something similar. Thanks for your reply. Love your work.

I'm so happy you're doing PL as a priority this year. I really missed it last year! You have inspired me to get going and do my January weeks. Almost "caught up," that dreadful concept. Anyway, I really enjoyed the process, more to the point! Thanks!!

    Ali,
your enthusiasm for your weekly project life spreads and the mix and match of styles is making me firing me up!
I love how you add Anna's notes! My 5 year old is drawing a ton and I want to find a way to add his drawings into my album :)
And I love Aaron's face in the car selfie - reminds me of how my husband always looks in pics :)
