Week In The Life™ 2016 | Tuesday In Album

Welcome back to my series of posts detailing how I finished up my Week In The Life™ album earlier this week.

I had meant to share the photo below in my post yesterday so you could see what my desktop looked like as I was wrapping up this project:

You can see the pieces I cut up from the journal cards, the word/phrase stickers from both the kit and past Story Kits™, and other stuff on my desk (including a sneak peek at new inks we have coming soon).

Here's a look at my completed Tuesday words and photos in my album:

Repetition for the win. As you can see from yesterday to today (and for most of the other days) I follow the same basic formula - elements in the same place from day to day. This choice simplifies a big project and makes it so much easier to put together when you don't have to re-invent the wheel each time you add a photo.

And I love see-through stuff. I love that I was able to get those chipboard circles to hang out in the pocket by themselves (using the adhesive on the back + a smaller punched circle - details in previous posts this week about that).

On the back of the chipboard divider for Tuesday I ended up writing LOVING in bold capitals - when I did that I wished that I had done that on each day using prompts like "loving," "eating," "listening," etc. Something to keep in mind for next year. As you'll see I did find something to add to these cards each day but that would have been a fun approach.

PS - there have been a couple of questions about the chipboard dividers. These were included as a bonus item for preordering your album/kit during the preorder box period. If you ordered the kit after the preorder period and are interesting in purchasing those dividers you can do so here

On the back of the chipboard circle I added one of the small rubber speech bubbles that was included with the Cheer Story Kit™.

I liked the idea of grouping my feet photos - tells a story in and of itself.

The journaling page follows the same format from previous days. Journaling can be found in my Tuesday Words + Photos post.

On the back of the journaling page I added a photo of Simon to fill in the empty space. Happy dude. Small word/phrase stickers add a few sentiments to the story.

Rubber banner added directly to the photo on the back of the daily card. "This afternoon" was cut from one of the journaling cards. Sometimes when I do stuff like that I get new ideas for products - like a pack of word-based die cuts in long rectangle shapes. I'd use that.

The last part of Tuesday features a spread that includes a photo of the three of us on the couch + two photos of the kids in their own beds. These are some of my favorite kinds of photos. I used the time stamp from the sold out Day In The Life™ kit on the top photo. I was able to check the time via the metadata from when I took the photo. We do have plans to reorder that time stamp.

Again, like I mentioned yesterday, I really like the mix of the organic handwritten sentiments + the typed journaling.

Word based rectangular die cuts, or chipboard, would be awesome. I do a lot of stamping, but that's something that I would definitely use. Anyway, beautiful pictures. Awesome ideas. Thanks. Michelle t

LOVE it!! Feels so inspiring reading about your progress with this album every day. Makes me wanna drop what I´m doing (I´m at work) & hit home to my own album. Some of your ideas makes me think different about the stuff I´m stuck with in my own album - for example the dividers. Didn´t even think about cut them in half before you did. (I haven´t decided yet though...) Can´t wait to order your new inks too!! :)

I'm finishing up our book from 2013 and I got out all of the Story kit stamps to use. They have been a wonderful addition to that book and I love how it is coming together. The Story Kits absolutely Rock! I love seeing how yours is coming together! When I start this years book (next on my "Finish This" list, I am planning to cut up some of the cards from the kit (I am using last years kit for this years book). Love the idea to cut up the cards!! Thank you for sharing your progress on finishing this years book!

You probably did it on purpose, but I like how you began Tuesday with Anna waking up and ended it with Simon going to bed.

I can't tell you how much this helps me to put my album together as I tend to overthink AND re-invent the wheel all at the same time! ;)

What type of ink? I am fairly new to stamping and so I really need a refresher course on the different types of inks and how they all do something different. Pigment vs dye. I don't know the differences.

AHHHHH INKS!! I cant wait. Love your tuesday. Unfortunately ive run into a bit of a wall when it came to putting my album together this week. I have all my words and pictures ready and hopefully pick it up this coming week. I knew this album was going to be soooo very different from last years just by the pictures you were taking. I love it.

You can do it - I was stumbling a bit with motivation but once I was in it I just kept going to get it done.

I recognize some of the Freckled Fawn kits on your desk! I also pulled those to potentially use as the colors complement the WITL kit!

Thanks for sharing, love what you've done with it this time. I am attempting a more streamlined approach and I really like it too, except the photo editing/sizing part is taking me forever! I love adding the little strips of phrases to photos, def will do that again.

It's the cuboid shape one. You used it in the recent video when stamping the currently on the chipboard dividers.

Yes! The long skinny "cube" one. I have been looking all over for it. Please tell, Ali!

Love it all! I wish I had used the chipboard dividers as you did. Next time. I also really liked how you took pictures of everyone on the couch on different days - shows different people from the same vantage point! Love!

I did this project last fall and absolutely loved it. I was really pleased with the photos I took. But life got in the way and I didn't finish putting it together and don't have the words all written down to bring it together. Any ideas for finishing? It ended up being a huge stumbling block for this year's project...

Hi - I would get it all in an album (photos, etc) and then go in and add some reflective words - how do you feel as you look back on it now, what do you remember, what do you love, etc. It's totally fine to not have all the words - you still have words inside yourself that you can add to it. Totally not a lost cause.

Please please please tell me that your ink will stamp on photos without smearing.

It's a pigment ink - you can definitely use it on photos. It does take a little time to dry because it is a little more wet overall and it will always depend on your photo paper (I always test stamp onto a test print to see what happens first before stamping on my finished photo). This is not StazOn - which is what I tend to use most often on my photos :). If you stamp it on a photo and then immediately run your finger over it it will likely smear. If you wait a few minutes you should be good to go (I just tested it here on a photo I had just printed out).
