Project Life® 2014 | Week Six
Welcome to Project Life® 2014 | Week Six (February 3rd through February 9th).
This was quite a week. Looking back at the photos today while I was finishing up this week made me think about how it's challenging to adequately represent how crazy this week really was while I was living it.
The card that says, "and then the furnace broke" should be an indication of the kind of week we were experiencing (+ a dying monitor + a dead toaster). Ha.
Here's a look at Week Six:
This is one of those weeks that's actually been almost done for way too long but I kept thinking I wanted to add more. Today, before taking photos, I added the chipboard hearts, printed two more photos (the one of me and then the one of Anna coloring), filled in the journaling on the "yes" card, added a couple white stickers and added a bit of writing on a couple of the photos to finish it up.
Those sweet little pink chipboard hearts are from Studio Calico. I attached them with the Tiny Attacher.
These two cards are from the Midnight and Seafoam Project Life core kits.
Words & Photos Layered Templates continue to be my favorite way to include longer stories in Project Life. This one includes a photo and words on the front and a big photo and a few more words on the back. Text for this insert can be found on this post: The Weekend Lens.
For a video tutorial on working with these Words & Photos Layered Templates in Photoshop go here.
That "yes" card is a printable from the Story Cards Vol.1 package.
Above you can see how I added the text right into the snowy section. Those tree limbs are encased in ice.
The second half of the spread is mostly photos. I also liked adding in the screen shot of the weather.
Here's that Photo Flip I mentioned in a post last week in action. Definitely going to be incorporating more of those.
That "Feb 9" card is part of a series of 3x4 cards I've been doing this year for each and every day of the year. January - April are now all available (May will be out next week). Here's a video tutorial that walks you through the steps of working with that product: Working With The 3×4 Layered Sentiment Cards.
ACTION ITEMS/IDEAS
- Grab a card right now and jot down your favorite thing from today or from yesterday. Hand-write it and slip it into your album. It doesn't need anything else than that.
- Remember that not all weeks have to have a ton of stuff to be "complete." If that is holding you back from capturing more stories or moving forward then STOP IT. (I'm saying this to myself as much as to anyone else).
- There is a place for the good & the challenging in this project. Including a single phrase or sentence on a card is often enough.

Thanks for the reminder of those great layered templates, I've bought them, and used it a while ago, but that photo makes me want to use them again! Do they print to half a spread or did you adjust the size to fit like that? Great page!

Ali, just a question...
I am thinking of ordering from Studio Calico but cannot decide which monthly kit to order. What kit(s) do you recommend? I do a lot of Project Life, but would like to start making traditional pages again as I have in the past. I just can't decide what to order...
Please help!
Thanks for all of the inspiration,
Angela
Hi Angela - I think if you are leaning towards doing more traditional pages then maybe the Scrapbook kit would be your best choice because you could always cut up the pattern paper to create journal cards for PL. One thing to do would be to assess you current stash - do you have more stuff for PL or for traditional pages? What would you like to have more of and then go with that...
