These Two
These two have been getting along wonderfully.
Lily is eight years old now and she is the best dog. She gets a little crazy in the morning when it's time to go outside and wait for the bus (she knows she gets to chase her ball) and anytime she hears the UPS or FedEx trucks approaching (all bark and no bite).
She is gentle and soft and is so happy to have Anna's attention (even when Anna grabs her ears). She's especially happy when Anna drops little tid bits from her high chair or when we take Anna out of the chair and she can check out what's been left behind.
She was great with Simon when he was a baby too.
Just typing that reminded me of this classic layout circa 2002 (hello paper strips). Simon would have been just a month or so older than Anna. I totally laughed as I read the journaling about her being a maniac...she has definitely mellowed over the years.
She is still super loyal. She is the kind of dog you can let out in the front yard and she will not leave (our male dogs always wanted to take off). She's happy to hang out with the family and is always up for an adventure in the car.
Simon is less of a fan of Lily these days. If you notice in the photo above there is a wand pointing at Lily coming down from the top right corner. That would be Simon casting a spell on Lily to get her away from Anna.
Simon's main thing (or at least one of them) with her is that she is a licker. He is not a fan of the licking. He is such a good, protective older brother.
So far Anna doesn't seem to mind one bit (the licking or the protection by the older brother).
Tomorrow I will be doing a giveaway for my Yesterday & Today class which begins next Thursday! There's still time to sign up if you are interested in participating.
My UPS man keeps dog biscuits in his truck so my dog is always happy to see him. She jumps in his truck to get the treat.

This is so cute! Good Lily! We have a cat named Lilly and she is very patient with my one year old girl... but you`ll never know when she has enough! Simon is a perfect big brother!

How Cute! Our 21 month old son's best friend is our 6 year old boxer Boudreaux. Boudreaux is so gentle and sweet. There is nothing like the bond between a child and their dog!
And I am getting so excited for class to start!

I don't blame Simon---I don't like a licking dog either.

This is super, super sweet Ali. They look adorable together! And thanks for the reminder that 'maniac' eventually mellows out with puppy age. I needed that reminder today! ;-)

This sounds just like our 12yo dog Smokey. He is a Lab Sharpei mix, and just as mellow as ever. He was protective of both our kids when they were little. He is also protective of me. When my hubby is hugging or kissing me, Smokey barks at him. He is also all bark and no bite.

What a SWEET post! Our dog is sweet too, and I love how she is with US. She is loyal and my shadow, and I love her. She too will lay in our front yard, and not go anywhere. She also loves to run errands with me in the van.
Anna is just gorgeous, and I love, love, love the wand in the photo! Did the spell work? Did the licking stop a little? I bet it did! SWEET!

What a very sweet post! It reminds me of my doggie. He recently passed away. Lily is a lot like my Capo (as in Al Capone, I know, my family the Italians)...all bark, no bite...never took off in the front yard...my 4-yr-old, Joey loved to play with his ears & he would call his licking "kisses". Such a sweet post!! Simon is hilarious!!

My dog Micah just loves to lick..aka kissing. He has a beard and if he is in the right spot with his kissing and the beard tickers you can't help but smile or laugh.
I just love seeing your older lo

My baby girl is now three, and her big brothers (9 and 5) are as protective as ever too. She has them wrapped around her finger (and knows it!) I love watching them together when they are in 'love you' mode. ('Get out of my room and don't touch my stuff' mode? not so much!) Enjoy your babies!

I agree with Simon and the licking thing. That's what makes me a cat person, not a dog person. Well actually just one of the reasons, barking would be #2.

That is so sweet! We have a black lab that just turned 2 in August. And our baby is 4 months today. He is also a licker! So far he has done well around the baby, but we don't think he knows how big he is.

I'm so with Simon! I don't like being licked (eewwww gross). Or jumped on. Or barked at. Which would explain why we have two cats and no dogs.
Love the old layout - now will there be a new one that chronicles the change in Lily with the second born?
