Meet Mighty Max.
Meet Mighty Maxwell. One of the mightiest little guys. He even has his own website. Max was born two months early and diagnosed with a genetic disorder called CHARGE Syndrome (you can read more about CHARGE here). He spent the first six months of his life at Children's Hospital in Seattle. And he is the cutest little dude.
In traveling around the country and abroad I get the chance to meet so many amazing people. I am humbly reminded that everyone has challenges and success, that we are all oh so human, and that there are ways we can help each other out - sometimes in the simplest ways.
Max is the nephew of one of my favorite store owners, Elizabeth, from Treasury of Memories in Bellingham, Washington. The store also has a blog. One
of the special things that TOM does each year is host a 20 Hour Benefit
Crop. This year the crop is being held on March 31st, with proceeds
going to the "Mighty Maxwell Guild" supporting Children's Hospital and
Regional Medical Center's Uncompensated Care Fund (and gifts for
long-term patients and families). TOM's goal is to raise $10,000. For
more information you can call the store at 360-715-3125.
And, they sent me this cool shirt :).
And, thank you so much for all the awesome comments and support on the book. It is in the final stages of design right now - meaning it is all laid out and is being reviewed and reviewed. The hopeful availability time is June 2006. I am totally excited for it to become "real."
I am heading up to Portland tomorrow for the Creating Keepsakes Oregon Convention. Looking forward to catching up with lots of fun people.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Max is the cutest little guy! Each year I take my kids to Childrens Hospital on Christmas Day and donate presents to the sick kids. I want my children to know HOW fortunate they are and how LUCKY we are to have our health. I will definitely call them and make a donation. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. Peace and blessings to you. Have a safe and fun weekend.

I have to say how amazing it is that you shine light on the stories of "real" life. After a long hard day, or at least I think it was, I take pause now to know that I have no reason to feel the way I do. There are so many people who are struggling. I am humbled. I am grateful. I will hug my kids a little tighter tomorrow and think of Maxwell. Thank you. Lisa

It is experiences like these that really put life into perspective. That is for sure.
Lovely friends of mine, Mel and Drew have a beautiful daughter {Kate} and she was also born early....at 29 weeks. She is doing wonderfully. This is their link: http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/drew_mel/diary.htm

Max is amazing. Stories like his are just so touching. I went to college up the street from the Children's Hospital in Boston, and friends in the nursing program would tell me stories like this from time to time. It's just another reason I just love coming to your blog Ali.
Think your book is going to be available for the CKC in Charlotte? Or say the Masters in Boston? I am definitly attending Boston. Any chance you are? It's a fun town now that the Big Dig is mostly done.-E

I'm going to have to go check our that blog! My son Alex has CHARGE also. It's not something you hear about everyday though. What a cutie Max is. CHARGE can scare the living pants off you when their babies, Alex spent the better part of his first year in the hospital. But I'm very proud to say that at 7 1/2 he's the light of our lives & a very smart boy.
Thanks Ali!

Ali:) You make me want to live with intent, to not get so caught up in the every day miscellaneous and to look outside my every day box. I truly believe you could post a challenge about doing one good thing a day for someone you don’t know. Thank you for being you and touching so many of us every day of your life. Max is so cool and so very cute to. I will get a hold of TOM and see if we can help down here is Southern Oregon.
Way to go on the book! Can we pre order?

I couldn't believe it when I Googled Charge syndrome tonight and saw Ali!!
My daughter Angelina also has Charge Syndrome. Being a former Scrapbook store owner myself, It is very rare to find another "CHARGER" yet someone in the Scrapbook world.
My prayers are with you Max and your family!!
Maybe we'll see you in Chicago at the Charge confrence this summer!!
