Ways to get over blahness.

Had a blah morning. Working on stuff and feeling overwhelmed and uninspired. Ever feel that way before?

So to get myself out of my funk I tried the following:

1. Get out of the house. Ran some errands (like dropping off my clothes to Goodwill). Went to Target. Looking for something to store Simon's toys in that is more like a piece of furniture (but that is cheap) - didn't find anything. Went to the grocery store and bought OJ, veggies, the usual and some magazines (those tend to put me in a better mood). Sometimes just getting out and in the car can make me feel better. Felt a little better.

2. Check the mail. Came home from errands and found an Amazon box with Visual Chronicles and The Good Life inside. Also a trial order from Snapfish. A couple bills. An order of paper from Scrapworks. Feeling a little surge of betterness. Checking the mail is risky if you are already blah...it could get worse if it is not a good mail day. I was lucky today.

3. Eat lunch. Sometimes I am blah because I have not eaten recently. Ate leftover pizza. Did not make me feel better.

4. Answer emails. I am hopelessly behind. Maybe powering through will improve my mood. Nope. But got a few more answered.

5. Take a shower. Ok, most people do this in the morning. Working at home can mean it is a whole different story. This could be part of my blah problem. Took a shower and blew-dry my hair. Feeling much better after that...

So now I am off to pick up Simon. He has a tendency to shake me out of blah-dom as well. Going to stop at Starbucks on the way over for a tea.

I was feeling a bit blah today, too. Stopped at Starbucks on my way home from errands...it's helping. But it's hard sometimes when you work at home to get out of a funk. That's when you need a change of pace...I usually take a trip to the bookstore, walk my dog, etc. Just getting out helps...hang in there!

I know what you mean about feeling blah - I have had one of those days too.
Sounds like you did lots of good things to shake yourself out of the funk. Sometimes baking a little something helps me and if I'm worried about scarfing it all down I just give it to one of my neighbours!!
Another good one is just a little exercise - yoga, pilates, stretching - how can you be in a bad mood when you're doing the 'downward facing dog'!!! Oh, and my favourite is checking your blog - thanks so much for always being there and being so real.

isn't it painful when blah happens? it ususally happens to me when I have time....and things to be doing in that time. Needing to get work done.
of course, then, as I walked out the door last night to go teach, I found a parcel from my fave online scrap store in the US and it had brand new Heidi Swapp stuff and some new Ranger inks. Right as I am walking to me car.
    It's fate's way of teasing.

It's a blah day here in Omaha, too. Mostly, I know it's just the no-longer-winter-not-yet-spring weather we're having. Nice, temperature-wise, but grey and cloudy and gloomy.
    So I slept.
    Yeah. Still have the blah's.
Feel better pal. Have a blah-free Tuesday!
    xoxo.

Totally had to blues today too. Went to my emails ... first email in the box subject read "the end is near" (ofcourse spam mail). That couldn't be any more true ... for I am going to a "design job interview" tomorrow and I couldn't feel more like "not wanting to go". Blue BLUE blue ... the end is near and I am going to have to make a "desicion." Totally sucks! So what did I do ... packed up K and headed to Wegmans to walk the isles and look a good packaging design thinking maybe that would inspire me to get back to the real world. Ugh, its a blue day.

I'm sorry to hear you're having the blahs...too! I so need a boost of some sort - like a slight whim of creativity would help. It isn't coming so I'm doing the second choice - trying to organize!
Hope Tuesday is better : )

In the words of a very wise woman, "It will come again".
Maybe that just means that you were supposed to lay around in your pajamas and watch Law and Order all day...at least that's what I do!

Those darn blah's....they get to me every time too. I find connecting with friends helps me out of a funk. Or a good dose of r&r and reading helps. You need a distraction!

Sounds like you got too much on your plate! You need a rest away from it all! If you can, take deep breath, and take a trip out in the car with the music blaring, and sing at the top of your voice!! Often works for me!

Ali- Try some Nora Jones, Ben & Jerries frozen yogurt (half-baked), and a big warm blanket. Works for me everytime. Hey, I bet you on a blah day is like most of us on a good day. You're such an icredibly up person. Maybe knowing that you are such an inspiration to others will be inspiring to you. -Alisa

This is my favorite quote to read when I am feeling blah and uninspired, maybe it will help you!
"What if funky, confusing, gray, lonely days were just part of a "system" that, in turn, created bright, happy, friendly days? what if they were just meant to give deeper elements of your creativity a rest? what if they were deliberately crafted holidays, of a sort, devised by your inner psyche to relieve you from the pressure of artificial expectations?"
so I try to read that when i am in a funk and uninspired, and it usually does make me feel better!
