Morning!
from Japan trip - a couple hours outside Tokyo
Well, it is 5am here and I am sitting in the airport watching CNN talk about the servere weather in the midwest - right where I am heading of course. One of the bummers about where we live is that I almost always have an additional connection - today I have two, including Chicago. Cool - LOL - can't wait to get there today...anyone really think I can make it through there without any delays (all said in my best sarcastic voice of course)?
To pass the time I have been checking out the inspiration in the Creating Garden on Two Peas - tons of cool holiday ideas. Here are two favorites:
since we all have tons of paper
adorable - which also reminded me I wanted to link to this awesome wreath
The theme over there this month, in addition to the cool holiday projects, is scraplifting - goes along perfectly with the idea of trying on someone else's style (AEzine challenge this week). Love seeiing that pages people chose to lift and how they each put their own spin on each project.
Also took a couple minutes to look at some of my photos from Japan that are loaded on this computer - need to get them printed. I took lots of photos of different textures - thinking of doing a mini-book just on the texture photos. They tell their own story in and of themselves.
If you are in Springfield, Illinois I hope to see you tonight or tomorrow!
Hope everything goes well! We got a ton of snow here in Rockford early this morning. My husband works near O'Hare and he didn't have to go in today. That is the first time I can ever remember his work being closed. Travel safely; hope you have a wonderful time.

Good luck getting to Springfield! I live in northern Illinois, about 3.5 hours from Springfield and we are snowbound! I'm sure there will be delays but you'll eventually make it. Enjoy your time there and I wish I could join you. Lovin' these ideas you've shared.

i hate to be a bummer, but the odds aren't good. a plane skidding off the runway this morning at o'hare (no injuries or anything). i live 40 miles west of the city and we have 8" of snow and counting. the middle of the state was supposed to get at least a foot.
be safe!

Ali - I owe you a big gigantic thanks (so much bigger than you know). Thanks for being Ali and reminding me to be me. We will probably never meet in person - but, you've impacted my life and inspired some good and important change. For that - I can never thank you enough. ~K
(PS, you'll make it where you're going - snow has a really great way of making an adventure out of it all... We have 19 inches right now and it's -38F and WINDY. Simon would love it!)

Sarcasm noted...and can I say that I live in the Midwest and I try to avoid Chicago at all costs because O'Hare is always and I mean always delayed. It could be a bright shiny day everywhere in the U.S. and they'd find a way to be delayed. After I figured this out I rearranged my plans and try to fly out of Minneapolis and bypass a connector if I can. Although it is difficult to do sometimes. When flying to Denver for instance. I had to fly from Minneapolis to Chicago then to Denver and anybody who knows the layout of our great country knows that I did a little backtracking. Couldn't be helped so there you go.
Anyway, on a positive note, I wish we'd get some snow where I'm at, the northwoods of Wisconsin. It's shameful when we can't get a good blizzard up here. :)

Good luck getting to Chicago Ali...I live in the suburbs there and they said that O'Hare cancelled a ton of lights. If you want to see what it looked like at 8 a.m. this morning by my house, check this out:

Oh Ali...I am thinking of you, because they just announced on the radio that Ohare is closed...
I am in Central Minnesota and we haven't had a flake of snow!
I hope your weekend isn't completely screwed up. I am sending positive vibes your way!

However, if you're slated to go through Midway, you should be ok--- we have less snow down on the south end of town. But you're probably not getting to Chicago today unless you grow wings and fly yourself! Sorry... maybe see if they can route you through St Louis.

Isn't it strange. If you were coming to Minneapolis...it would be smooth travel!
The snow storm missed us entirely and we have not seen a drop yet this year!
Meanwhile, my friends in Wisconsin and Illinois and getting pounded. Always weird.

I live in Bartlesville, OK (which is between Tulsa, OK and the Kansas state line) and we actually had a blizzard warning. The first time ever for this area. In one evening we received 12 - 15 inches. The ConocoPhillips office here (about 2200 employees) is closed even.

I live a little north of Chicago and we have 8 inches already and we are expecting 12+ by this evening. O'Hare is definately closed and I doubt you will be getting any where close to the city. Good luck and drink lots of coffee!

Oh man... I am sitting here -- it's 11 a.m., and there is about 15 inches of snow on the ground just northwest of Chicago (quite near the airport) already... I hope you make it in for The Scrapping Bee -- but MOSTLY I hope that your travels are safe!
