Everyday stuff.

Toes

Everyday stuff is so cool. Been taking lots of photos this week as I document a week in my life for my CKU class. I am finding that I am taking some of my best pictures. Something about always having a camera close at hand and taking those shots that you would normally just pass by is really having an impact on me.

And in case you are wondering, the lens used for this shot is the best $75 you can spend. It is a Canon 50mm 1.8 and the one I keep on my camera most of the time. I love it. Chris, on the other hand, does not love it - he prefers the regular lens (Canon 28-105">Canon 28-105) because he likes to be able to zoom in and out (the 50mm is fixed meaning you have to move your body to get closer or farther away).

Another thing having an impact on me right now are all the comments and words left on the one little word post. Wow. I am compiling a list and will share it with you all on Monday.

Other stuff:

Heading to Anaheim for CHA or live in the surrounding areas? One of my favorite designers/artists is going to be teaching classes at The Scrapbook Oasis. You can take a class from Kristina Contes on Thursday or Friday at 7pm. Class samples and info are located on the right hand side of the Scrapbook Oasis blog.

If you live in/around the Portland area, don't forget to sign up for my Discover Home class at the Portland Creating Keepsakes Convention. Classes are available on both Friday and Saturday mornings from 8:30am-11:30am. Hope to see some of you there.

awesome pic! I just got done w/the journaling for my "word" page. I haven't been this excited about a scrapbook page in a long, long time. Not even sure if I have a picture for it...maybe my first pictureless page? Had to run in and type out all the thoughts for it {we're in the middle of a yard sale, and I'm pretty sure my hubby's gonna kill me:)} Can't wait til Monday!

My word for the year - I've been praying about this, and it is obvious to me what it should be: SACRIFICE. I can't wait to document what this will mean for me. Slowing down - simplification - excercise - time in Gods word. . .wow - I can hardly imagine the treasures in store for me if this becomes a daily habit. Thanks Ali :)

Super cool photo! Stopped my husband in his tracks and then he gave me a little mini lesson on lenses. (His dad is a photographer and likes the same kind of lens you do).
BTW, I'm with Mary Ellen (above comment) on the Pheonix thing. Would love to see you here in Sunny AZ!

My word is Place. This year is about the process, time to declutter, body, mind, hearth & home. Everything and everyone has a place. This is the year for me to find that place. I am so looking forward to finding the peace of those places.
I hope I can get a lo done this hectic weekend, but if not, I blogged about my word. If you have a free moment, you can read about it at

Wow! What a neat pic. I just bought a good camera... but I like the lens on it! I don't want to move my body. I might get exercise... that can never be good. ;)
I'll have to document a week in our life too... cool idea.

Mine's WONDERFUL. Like remember it's wonder+full, you know? My daughter (3)inspired it when she picked a book at the library yesterday called "The Wonderful Happens". She picked one for you too, Ali, without even knowing your word! It's "The Peace Book" by Todd Parr. GREAT thoughts on peace with kids-friendly illustrations.
    PEACE in 2007!

here is my word entry - thanks for the idea. I am using my word each day!
So, I found this new blog that I love. This women captures what I believe having a creative life is all about. She has such interesting ideas and stuff. Ali Edwards. One of her ideas is to come up with a word each New Year. That word would be your mantra for the year and remind you of how you want to live your life. So my word for the year 2007 is ENJOY!
Why you might ask? Well, with a 2 1/2 year old that is challenging my patience in every way with her "terrible two-ness" and another one on the way in 2 months, I have to remind myself that I need to enjoy the moments in life.
    Enjoy my daughter
    Enjoy my belly
    Enjoy drinking more water
    Enjoy my body pillow
    Enjoy my husband's help
    Enjoy the guilt-free appetite (kinda)
    Enjoy the little things
I need to remember not to get caught up in the difficult things. I feel like I am discipling all the time and Hannah and I aren't friends anymore. But yesterday we laughed in the store and had fun tickling each other and it reminded me that I need to have more of the moments and enjoy everything about being a mom (even to a 2 year old). So, that is my word.... ENJOY EVERYTHING MORE!

When I read the newsletter on Thurs. am, my first, I got so excited (we're talking top of your voice shower singing excited!) I am not really a word person. I am color and texture, but this fits me well.
Last year my word was "be green", as in Kermit the Frog green. This past year I have learned to be very conscious of not being judgmental. This year I don't have a word, I have 7 words.
6 Mo. ago, my husband called me from Austin where he was working and went on and on about a movie he had just watched. "The Lady In the Water." I said how nice. Remembering how much he liked it, Santa left it in his stocking. I watched it about a week ago. I laughed, I jumped in startlement, I tried to figure out the riddle, I cried (hard), and when the movie ended I was filled with the most beautiful feeling. I don't have words to describe it. During the next few days, the story ran through my head & the beautiful feeling was still there. On the way home from the grocery store one evening, I stopped at a light and looked around and I saw. The beautiful feeling became a phrase.

Hi Ali... Remember me? I was asking you about your camera when you came to Illinois. I got the digital Rebel XT for Christmas! And my husband just ordered me the 50 mm lens tonight. Can't wait to start using it. Love your pictures and your words.
Looking forward to seeing you in Detroit.
