And the winner is...

Jennifer Davis. Email me Jennifer and I will mail the kit out to you.

How in the heck did I pick the winner? Rather than going through and cutting them all up, I took them all (on 8.5x11 pages) and threw them up in the air and then, with my eyes closed...picked one up off the floor and the response closest to my finger was the winner. Very scientific. Very fun. I was hoping that Chris would be here to help me, but alas, he hasn't made it home yet...instead I got out my trusty tri-pod and took the pictures myself.

And now, here is what I have been thinking about today : if each one of you who left a comment today could tell one other person (maybe someone who does not scrapbook or someone who knows no one with autism or your mom or dad or brother or sister or grandma or neighbor or best friend or grocery checker or nice old lady down the street) about the contest and encourage them to donate $10 to the badge...could you imagine the total we could end up with?

If you live outside of the US, pick up the phone or email one person you know in the US that could make a donation on your behalf.

All along with this contest I have been saying "we." It is "we" because there is no way I could do this alone. I am one person: a mama, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a person who works from their home, a life artist - just an everyday person trying to do something positive with what I have been given. It takes all of us reaching out, all of us putting out the effort to achieve this goal. We are a bunch of  individuals working together for the greater good.

Holy cow - we have raised over $30,000.

And because I seriously can't believe the number of comments and I am so over-the-top excited about this whole thing, here's a download for another class:

PERSPECTIVE DESCRIPTION: What do you see in your world right now? Record your thoughts, your photos - your very own "perspective."

PERSPECTIVE homework : Download perspectivehomework

PERSPECTIVE how to : perspectiveHOWTO-boxbook

SUPPLIES:
Box Book: Junkitz
8 sheets of patterned paper
letter stickers or stamps (you will need quite a few "i's")
a couple accents -  I used epoxy circles and rub ons from Autumn Leaves

Tomorrow morning I will post another give away...can't wait to show you what I have next!

Thank you for the extra project. I posted on a yahoo group I'm in (BALS, which is Bay Area Ladies Social), hoping my girlfriends will step up to the plate and donate to your cause. If this keeps up, you'll run out of paper and ink with the drawings you're doing...I'll keep my blabber to a minimum for the comments that will go into the drawing :). I'm so happy for you and Autism Speak Inc.

I'll see what I can do to drum up some more numbers...I just love what you're doing (saw a bumper sticker today for Autism Awareness and thought of you!). Thanks Ali!

    Big congrats to Jennifer!
Ali, you are just amazing! Thank you so sharing sixdegrees.org with us and Autism Speaks. I'm going to donate and share it with all my friends.
You've inspired me to start my own sixdegrees for my son, Jaden, who just recently beat cancer at 3yrs old. I want to be able to make a difference, just as you have with Autism Speaks.
Thank you for continuing to inspire us, everyday. God bless!

I am just amazed (in a good way!) - anyone who thinks they can't make a difference in the world because they are just one person is completely proved wrong by you! Not only are you a talented artist but such an inspiring person. I added just a bit to the badge total and sent it on to the whole extended family - hope that every little bit will help!
PS. I have an idea that maybe will help others find the money in their budgets to donate and help too - I am skipping my monthly scrap kit this month and using that money to donate instead, and would challenge other scrappers to do that too :)

I have always loved the way you integrate texture and patterns into your scrap-work especially those that one normally would not put together. I also love the simplicity of it all, active simplicity.
And simple idea, simple actions are those that are most effective. It is quite easy to donate $10 or to reach out to someone who needs support. And that is my challenge to others!

The drawing gift was sweet but I am LOVING the free class Ali! Thanks so MUCH! Dennis and I donated this morning, my sisters this afternoon. Not rich people but I really felt like I made a difference today, and that my friend, is cool.
Thank you again for the free class, I feel like a winner too.

I mentioned it as well on my blog yesterday and at least one person from japan wanted to make a donation and I hope others did the same by contacting a friend.
I hope your badge gets more and more and that we shall win this race! Maybe you will meet the man himself....Kevin, wouldn't that be the coolest!!

Ali - I love your method of picking a winning name, lol! Your cute doggy looked like he (she?) wanted to get in on the action! We have a german shepherd who always wants to be wherever we are too! I was finally able to donate to the autism badge...it really felt good. I hope you reach your goal. I visit your blog just about daily...it's my "before bedtime" routine most nights.
One quick note about the classes your're offering free downloads for...I am having trouble getting them to download. I get an error message that says, "file is corrupted". I'm not too computer saavy, but will try and have my husband help me figure out what's wrong. If anyone out there knows what that error message means, I'd appreciate any info! I'd love to be able to "take" a class (or two) of Ali's!! I'm keeping a binder of all your columns in Creating Keepsakes, from the very first one that came out last January. I love your style...it "speaks" to me!
