Christmas Project #5 : Button Trees (in progress)
This fantastic idea comes from the very talented Tia Bennett. She created one for Two Peas - I simply printed out the photo + instructions and went to work. Click her name to get to the sample + how to.
One of the coolest things about this project is that Simon was interested in playing along. One of the first things we did was sort buttons. I had been storing them all together in a big jar and found it easier to work with for this project once they were sorted by color.
After awhile they looked like this:
Simon worked and worked (such a good motor skills exercise) and declared his tree finished. Love it:
I went with red, brown, cream, and a bit of green. Mine is still in progress (and I started a second one with clear buttons):
And the best thing to do after a big craft project:
Love those little dishes you used to sort the buttons!! Especially the little square ones.... Thanks for sharing your projects, very inspiring!

Love this idea. And you know what would be fun? To spray paint the foam gold or silver when using clear buttons for some extra shimmer!

Gonna do this one with my daughter too- so fun!
We're having quite a week with you- our advent boxes are done, our decorations have started being put out, I'm making some of those word cards on my computer for packages/decorating, the Christmas albums are getting started this week too (I'm taking an online album class).
All the projects are going together very quickly! I'm filled with such wonderful holiday spirit that isn't filled with all the craziness and shopping- just good quality time together. It's simply awesome!
The photo of you & Simon is such a treasure- love it!
today we're glittering pinecones for our Thanksgiving table 8)
have a great day!
